| Posted: | | | | We're still waiting for a program update that will allow entry of 4K UHD discs (as well as Dolby Atmos, DTS X, HDR etc.). |

| Posted: | | | | You can create tags for anything (4K UHD discs as well as Dolby Atmos, DTS X, HDR etc.). When the program is updated and has these as selectable items, you can "Find" your tag and change all of them at once, one item at a time. | | | Marty - Registered July 10, 2004, User since 2002. |

Getting a 4K TV next week though and a 4K player will follow within a month or two, so the games will soon begin...well, movies. |

I upgraded to a 65" LG HDR 4k as it was damaged in the earthquake we had here. (Ceiling tiles in the shop fell down the back causing marks, screen OK). |

Manufacturers do not enable UHD colour or HDR by default . Samsung for instance you need to activate UHD colour for each HDMI port you connect a HDR device too. Also when you get an firmware upgrade it dome times goes back to default. |

Also when you get an firmware upgrade it dome times goes back to default. Also the earlier 4K TV's do not even support HDR. Not even in Firmware update. It is something that has to be built into the TV via chipset. SO you have to be careful in the wording, a lot of TV's are HD which can mean 4k but NOT HDR. You need to make sure HDR is there. (Google is your friend, and good to look up on Internet on your phone while browsing in store). As an aside I found a good Youtube video showing the side by side compares of OLED, QLED and Quantum Dot. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=osACaXfDSJE |

And LG OLEDs (at least for 2016 models) are similar... each HDMI port has actually three setup menus: Normal, HDR and Dolby Vision. What's more, the options for each of the three modes are unavailable until that signal is present on that input. So the first time you run with that mode, you need to go back through the settings to reset any custom preferences... e.g. DNR and smoothing effects, and be aware some adjustment options are unavailable in the different modes. |
