Is there support for custom (i.e. user-defined) fields?

I have a huge movie collection, and have been managing it with a big Excel spreadsheet.

I have a lot of bit of info I track that are not standard things (eg. I accidentally deleted all the movies I had on a hard drive, and am tracking my replacing them over time).

Is there any support for custom (user-defined) fields in DVD Profiler? It would be fantastic if there were.  One of the reasons I initially bought Movie Collector (from Collectorz) was due to this feature and it's reasonably well-designed GUI.  However, that app's performance is rather slow compared to that of DVD Profiler, so I'd love to be able to use DVD Profiler, but have that feature.

Anyone know if it's available?

(1) See my answer to your other post for information on BulkEdit. It can import CollectorZ directly (may not be up to date, but I can tweak it if necessary).

(2) See the plugins "SideCar" and "Enhanced Titles" for support of the DVD Profler custom fields feature. This is probably a level of complexity you might want to save for after you are successful creating your collection as best possible using the standard fields. Since Import / Export is an automated process, you can run it many times without a major time impact. As you learn more, the Import process can be made to be more satisfactory. Also, the BulkEdit tool can Import personal information and add it to an existing database.
Thanks for your support.

Thanks!  I actually took a look at the plugins page right after I posted this, and installed those two plugins! :-)

So I'll be checking them out, seeing how well they work for me.

(I'll reply in the other thread as well)

Just be aware that there are a couple of unique restrictions on custom fields, and that it is one of the newest and relatively unstressed portion of DVD Profiler and plugins. Read the advice given by the plugin authors carefully. I only mention this because it seems you are about to embark on a "do it all" strategy - that's OK, but it requires extra planning, backups, etc.
