| Posted: | | | | So they finally announced the new Apple TV today and the biggest announcement is that it will now run apps (even universal apps). So... I'm hoping we can expect a version of Profiler that runs on Apple TV. I can't imaging a better interface for choosing a movie with a group of people than on your big screen TV. | | | Get the CSVExport and Database Query plug-ins here. | Posted: | | | | In looking into programming for Apple TV, I noticed that it has some serious limitations. First, there's no local storage. So our collections would need to be stored in the cloud. That could be a serious limitation for those that don't have the cloud storage space. On the other hand, you're not limited to Apple iCloud. It's also possible to pull data from your own source. So our collections could be pulled from the Invelos servers. The other limitation is a 200MB size limit on your app. As the current app (on an iPhone 6+) is only 10.3MB, that's probably not a concern in this case. The hard part (and I'm not sure if it's even possible) would be hooking into Siri. Or the search results to be more accurate. It would be nice to ask something like "Find an action movie with Bruce Willis" and have it search our database in addition to iTunes, Netflix, HBO, Hulu, etc. Anyway, I'm hoping we'll eventually see DVD Profiler for Apple TV! | | | Get the CSVExport and Database Query plug-ins here.
