| | Posted: | | | | This forum has saved me so much trouble, I'm kind of a jump in head first and ask questions later type of girl! Searching this forum has been invaluable. After my sister died, last August, my brother-in-law decided to pare down, lighten his load, and move to Flordia. One of the things he let go of was his DVD collection, asking me to sell them. Easy enough I thought...until 12 boxes arrived in the mail! There's got to be an easy way to organize these, I tried a few different programs, and then this one  Now I know what I have, and where I have it!  Okay, it could be a little more organized, alphabetical, genre, alphabetically in genre, but it's a start! Now I'm faced with the task of selling them, any suggestions would be so appreciated! |

Wow, that looks terrific in boxes. How many films do you have? I cannot speak for the States, I live in Europe. But think best to sell them over Ebay. Perhaps not one after the other but in lots by Genres. 10 films Genres Action f.e. In Switzerland we have also a platform especially to exchange and sell films. Perhaps you have in the States also something like that. Search a bit in the net.
I wish you good luck with this collection and selling it, but you could also keep it for you, perhaps you also go and like the films your brother did once.

| | Posted: | | | | Welcome to the forum. eBay or selling individually on forum(s) is probably your best bet but unfortunately a lot of DVDs sell for so little now a days.
Is your collection link the list of DVDs you're trying to sell or is it your own personal collection? |

They are mostly horror, sci-fi, and blood and guts...not my cup of tea  I understand they aren't selling for much, I'd like to sell the whole lot at once and be able to give him one lump sum, rather than giving him a couple of dollars here...a couple there. Do you think that's possible, selling the whole lot for $2.50 - $3.00 a DVD/Blu-Ray? Cyn |

Unless you have hard to find OP titles...and Criterions...you probably won't get much for them. A store that deals in used DVDs should be your last resort....typically they will cherry-pick the titles they think they can sell and refuse to take the rest (majority). Such places sell DVDs for from $1 to $10 (depending on title) and will pay you from 10-25 cents to $ 2-$5 a piece (depending on title). Good luck. | | | | Last edited: by JMGuer |

Cyn It will be very difficult to find someone to take the whole lot for $2.50/3.00 per title since that would put the total cost at $1300-1600. Most likely you could find someone to take it for a few hundred and looking at current eBay listings it looks like most lots are listed for roughly $0.50-$0.60 per DVD. |

| | Posted: | | | | Recently I took over 1750 DVDs to MovieStop and ended up with about $1500 in store credit. Plus I bought what they call a Director's Club card and received 20% off each used Blu-ray I bought. That got rid of all of them at once without all the headache.
If you decide to go that route, talk to the store manager first, so you can coordinate with him the best time to accomplish the task. They can't keep your discs in the store overnight (the liability if something happened), so he got approval from their home office for overtime and let me come in 3 hours early on a Sunday morning and brought in 2 other people. It was great to get it done in one morning and shop for 3 hours without other customers. We were out of their by 12:30 with about 120 new and used Blu-rays.
