I contributed a profile for the Blu-ray Victoria and it was declined. How do I find out why it was declined?

It seems to be a mistake by the screeners - that happens on occasion.

Resubmit the Overview data noting that the profile was mistakenly declined. Be sure an include your documentation about taking the data from the DVD cover.

Looking at the contribution notes it seems you submitted a cast & crew update then submitted an overview update later on the same day.

When you submitted the second overview update did you tick the cast & crew boxes?

If you did I suspect the submission was declined because you didn't explain where the cast and crew came from in your second submission. I imagine the screeners only see the last set of notes entered so all they had to go on was your notes regarding the overview.

Thanks for the info. I would think that if something isn't accepted there would be a comment on why. Doesn't make sense to just decline without giving the contributor a reason.

While they do have some predetermined reasons to use... they can't do this with all circumstances that come up. And putting a reason for all declines just isn't doable... when you figure all contributions for all releases in all regions and all localities. So there will be times that there won't be a reason given.

Just expanding on Addicted's point, this is a small company which means they don't have the resources to fully justify every decline.

Besides it does make it clear on submission that you need to explain where data has come from, highlighting cast and crew data specifically.

As far as I can remember I haven't had a single contribution declined personally and I don't go overboard on the notes I provide.

Thanks for your comments Addicted2DVD - I love the episode guides that you have created, I have downloaded many of them - but I disagree. This product is maintained by users and if someone spends a few hours contributing profile information to the database, I believe that if it doesn't get accepted there needs to be a reason. How are new people supposed to learn about their mistakes? I have contributed profiles in the past and made a few errors but there was a comment provided on what I did wrong.

Anyway, I took Kathy's advice and resubmitted my profile, making sure I checked off all the correct boxes and provided the information on where I obtained my data. So all is back to normal!
