Let's assume first that it was accidentally hidden. Try right clicking one one of the titles in the Collection tab. Go to View Columns -> Genre and click it. This should add a checkmark.

If this does not work or it is not what you are talking about, please post again.

Another thought:  If it's the small box in the upper left of DVD Profiler where you can sort through your collection based on various criteria, and the Genre tab is missing, then right-click on the title bar (where it has the different tabs), hover over View Tab, and make sure there's a check mark beside Genre.  If not, click to place a check mark there (or click View All Tabs), if there is already a check mark there, then you may need to perform a Database Repair to get things back to normal.  Exit DVD Profiler, Click on your Start button, (All) Programs, DVD Profiler, Database Repair Utility, wait until it's finished, then bring up DVD Profiler again and see if it's fixed.  (If it's Windows 8 and you don't have a Start button, I don't have a clue how you get to it).
