| Posted: | | | | Bloody amazing. My faith in the franchise had been destroyed by the sleeping pill that is Quantum of s*it. But as soon as the title credits rolled and the song kicked in, it was renewed. And i knew this was going to be something special. Takes classic elements that make the Bond films so distinctive and special. Finally and very successively, mixes it with a more realistic approach.
If that wasn't enough they added character development! No more just Bond get's a mission meet's a pretty lady, shags her and foils the plot of some super villain. Bond has finally entered the 21st century, and for me this is the 3rd best Bond film. After From Russia With Love and Dr No.
Totally recommend seeing this, and im sure it would be even more amazing in IMAX. | | | Last edited: by ShinyDiscGuy |

| Posted: | | | | Thanks for the review, Scot. Much appreciated. I understand they returned to the john Barry style which was the franchise signature for what, 30 years, through Moores bond anyway. I have found the trailer intriguing and it appears that Craig has done some studying of Fleming's 007. The silhouette shot , 007 reporting for duty looks terrific. Again, thanks. Now...take the bloody shot. | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! CBE, MBE, MoA and proud of it. Outta here

Skyfall is then next .....( probably see/buy Blue Ray by February 2013 ) The original Cloud Atlas book is not very good itself. So no surprise the film stinks a bit. | | | Last edited: by ShinyDiscGuy |

It took £20.1m following its release on Friday making it the biggest UK opening of 2012 so far and the third biggest UK opening of all time."*

* behind Harry Potter 7.2 and Toy Story 3 I don't think a Bond film can break a billion. I say 700 to 800 million is achievable. | | | Last edited: by ShinyDiscGuy |

| Posted: | | | | Got to see Skyfall. Very well done, Craig's best and I loved the musical nod to John Barry. That said the film creates some very interesting continuity problems. It seems to predate in theory at least Dr. No or from Russia, yett we have the DB5 and two continuing characters were introduced in younger form. All the cars and other transport was 21st century except for one car which is older than daniel. Also introduucing the hatrack and the very familiar office of another major character. Interested to hear other views on these enjoyable but confusing points. All in all ill give the film an overall four stars and two stars for the continuity issues. | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! I don't think there was supposed to be any continuity with the other, non-Craig, Bond movies. Casino Royale was, for all intent and purpose, a reboot, they just carried over Judi Dench. Those things you mentioned were more nods to the old Bond movies because this is the 50th Anniversary (much in the same way as Die Another Day had references since it was released on the 40th Anniversary). | | | Last edited: by The Movieman |

| Posted: | | | | I found this movie to be relatively boring both in pacing and in story. And what's with the in-universe reality of the thing? First you have Bond, shot twice, falling down more than a hundred feet neck-first into a river, then falling down a waterfall. And on the other end, you have Spoiler: (Select to view)M dying of a stich And now I'm getting nitpicky, but that always happens when the movie doesn't really pull me in. When Bond blew up Spoiler: (Select to view)Skyfall, the accelerated debris managed to take out a helicopter. But the blonde bad guy standing right in front of the house didn't even have a scratch.
But I guess that's to be expected from a man who can talk and walk for another minute after he got a knife into his back, near the spine. And what's with the convoluted plot? Spoiler: (Select to view)Why go through all the fuzz of getting yourself caught just to break out again - if there's not actually something to be gained from being inside your target's fortress? Of the new Bonds I still like Casino Royale the best, despite the ridiculous outcome of the last poker hand. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

| Posted: | | | | 00s are clearly super soldiers who can survive pretty much anything that you can throw at them, aside from a gunshot to the head or major damage to the vital organs. The other characters are just regular civilians like you or me. | | | My DVD/Blu-ray Collection My Letterboxd Page |
