Problem scanning covers in DVD Profiler with Scangear

Hi, just bought a new printer, a Canon MG6150, to replace my broken HP.
Unfortunately I noticed I can no longer scan cover images within DVD Profiler. When scan button is pressed in DVD Profiler's Edit Cover Scan panel the Scangear software kicks into gear. In Scangear the Preview button actually works and the scanner starts to scan the cover image.
However, the scan button within Scangear does not function at all. No error messages are displayed, it just does nothing if pressed. Moreover Scangear cannot be exited by pressing the Close button as well. To close Scangear I either need to press cancel in DVD Profiler's Edit Cover Scan panel or more harshly End the Scangear Task in Windows Task Manager.

I've tested the Scangear software in other programs where images can be scanned, and in those programs (like Comic Collector) the Scan ans Close buttons of Scangear work properly; they only refuse to work in combination with DVD Profiler.

I've had other Canon printers in the past (older Scangear software obviously) and used it with previous versions of DVD Profiler without any problems, so it's a bit peculiar that now it doesn't work anymore.
Does anybody else have similar problems with scanning cover images in DVD Profiler with a recent Canon multifuctional??
Scangear version used is 17.0.1 and I use the lates drivers for the MG6150...

I can't help with your actual problem, but maybe give you a workaround.

Use your scanner outside of DVDP and save the scanned image in a JPG file. Then you can open that file in DVD Profiler.

That's how I do it. My Canon scanner (Lide 50) came with PhotoStudio bundled, and I always prefered to use that for scanning. I don't know if newer Canon scanners come with any bundled software, but I suspect they do.

Thanx for your replieas guys.
That's exactly how I scan images now as well, but until I replaced my printer with the Canon I was accustomed to scan images from within DVD Profiler.
Was just curious if other people had similar problems with scanning images using recent Canon printers or that it's a problem with my configuration (although I doubt that, since other programs have no problems using Scangear).
Regarding bundled software: that's very limited nowadays I'm afraid, nothing like PhotoStudio included.
Just MP Navigator which lets you use Scangear to scan images, so am using that to scan the images and import the resulting images into DVD Profiler.....

It might be a problem in your TWAIN-interface.

HP is known to leave a lot of registry entries after deinstallation. So probably some of the unneeded HP-entries is colliding with your new Canon files.
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

Good thought. I agree with this idea. Maybe you can find something else (e.g. TWAIN driver) in the installed programs list that you can de-install before messing with the registry directly.

This just occured when upgrading from a Canon Pixma 4200 printer to a Canon Pixma 6220 printer.

Did anyone find a solution other than "Don't use your scanner inside of DVD Profiler"?

Did you completely uninstall your "old" drivers for the 6220 or did you try the "Hopefully the new installation will overwrite all old entries"-variant?
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!

Exactly the same issue here when using the scangear software coming with a canon MG 5450. Both the network and USB interface versions behave as described previously by Warf.

This new printer is replacing my older Canon printer (MP 630) which was already associated with an older version of scangear and was working perfectly through the DVD profiler scan interface. Very strange indeed (Note that prior to the installation of the new drivers, I had performed a full removal of all the canon utilities coming with the old printer)

Since in the three cases that are coming up here only Canon's software is affected, I'd suggest to contact Canon's Customer Support.
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!

Just bought a Canon MG6350 and am experiencing the exact same problem as the original poster. Scangear refuses to work with dvdprofiler but works in all other programs. I am using a fresh windows 7 install, with no previous drivers installed. On my previous setup I had no issues using the older scangear software with DVDprofiler and the Canon Lide 80.

Pretty annoying to say it the least. Hope this will get fixed.
