| | Posted: | | | | Well, by walking through all my box-sets, I found two profiles which were never more part of my database. I've been able to restore them from an old backup, but they were easy to find (box-set includes 3 discs and only 2 child profiles were there).
But how can I check if there are any other profiles (not part of any box-set) which were gone, too? Is there any tool to compare the current database with any backup and the tool shows me profiles in the backup which are never more part of the database? |

| | Posted: | | | | Interesting problem. Perhaps the CSV export or DB Query can help. Either one of them should be able to give you a list of "Profile IDs". This is the unique identifier used in the database. Maybe you could use a spreadsheet to compare two columns, or use the XP command line program for comparing the contents of two text files. Good luck.
If you can tinker with scripts, check out Mithi's XSLT tools. You could probably write a script to compare the XML output of two databases. | | | Thanks for your support.

| | Posted: | | | | Depending on the Actions you have done, you could see at an upload of you collection if some profiles are missing.
You would see the different number, but it wouldn't help much for finding the missing profiles.
It would just help if your online collection would be complete and you could do a direct comprehansion.
Do you use collection numbers (without gaps)? Then the programm shows you at adding a DVD always the lowest free number. Note this number. Restore your back-up in a new database and look which one it was. |

You can restore your old backup into a new database. Then you export both databases to XML. Then you can compare both files with file comparers like Beyond Compare. | | | Karsten

Is there any tool to compare the current database with any backup and the tool shows me profiles in the backup which are never more part of the database? quickest and easiest way I can think of: restore your old back-up to a new database, get CSV-Export, export the IDs or UPCs and titles of both, open those files in OpenOffice Calc or Excel, sort by ID or UPC and the differences should get visible.
