| Posted: | | | | Okay I am now running DVD Profiler on my iPad. Love it!. Great job.
Now the iPad is in my house, in my house is my theater. The theater has a media player on the house network. The media player has an iPad app too, so I can control it from the iPad. Now how about a feature in DVD Profiler mobile that lets me select a movie, and hit a button that says "PLAY". All you need to do for most players is send one or two (one to turn on the player and one to start the movie, although some will auto start) text strings to their IP address and they will play the move. There is enough room in the location field to store the full string to send. Ideally only part of the string would need tp be stored (share/folder/file name) and at setup time you allow the user to enter IP address, Port address, Prefix string(s) and suffix strings. Prefix strings should be able to be multi lines (seperate by CR). What is in the DVD profiler location could then be embedded between the prefix and suffix strings and the "Macro" sent to the player. The movie would start playing and all other Movie Jukeboxes would disappear!!!
I use a Dune player and was one of the original testers of the IP firmware so I do know that player. I am doing something very similar from my own librarian (which uses the DVD Profiler as the authoritive source). I would be more than willing to help if contacted either with advice, concepts, answer questions, code samples. I could probably write a plugin if the API is exposed but only for the PC, I have not coded for the IOS platform. | | | Last edited: by barrygordon |
