| Posted: | | | | Hello Everyone,
I have been using Movie Label 2010 for quite some time now and it has always peeved me that it only connects to IMDB.com for movie information. This makes it extremely complicated when trying to enter individual seasons to my database. I came across this application and absolutely fell in love. Now I can finally, easily add season discs and episodic discs to my collection. The only problem is that before I purchase the program license, I want to know if I can somehow import my collection database from Movie Label 2010 into DVD Profiler. The database format from ML 2010 is .FDB and I have no way to export in XML format from that application. I really don't want to have to enter about 400 titles manually.
Can anyone help me out? |

Otherwise, there's always the CueCat barcode scanner for around $10. |

| Posted: | | | | I only found Movie Label 2011, is that the successor of the program you use? If yes, the "quick facts" claim: "Export to various formats (HTML, XML, PDF, Excel, etc)." so that might be a way to go, first update (for free I hope) to 2011, export it to XML and then try to re-import them with Bulk Edit (see Plug-In Forum, the author of said Bulk Edit is always very helpful) But, there might be trouble ahead: DVD Profiler recognizes the profiles by UPC, so you have to have them. Simply adding by title is possible, but will lead to problems later on. Do you have them ind Movie Label 2010? The next question is, what kind of personal data (if any) do you plan to carry over? Place of purchase, date of purchase, price paid etc. If e.g. you don't have any personal data, the CueCat Barcode scanner would be a really good alternative. cya, Mithi | | | Mithi's little XSLT tinkering - the power of XML --- DVD-Profiler Mini-Wiki |

| Posted: | | | | I was able to export to XML and Excel thru Movie Label 2010 but now I have an issue when running BulkEdit. I purchased a license for DVD Profiler and installed the BulkEdit plugin but when I attempt to load the XML file, I get error messages. It seems that whatever format ML 2010 uses for the XML file is not compatible. I tried to export from ML 2010 to Excel and removed all columns except for title then saved as an XML but the file still won't load.
Starting to think I will just have to manually re-enter everything. |

| Posted: | | | | Quoting darklink: Quote: I was able to export to XML ... Ah, a good first step. Now go to this thread and provide mediadogg with a sample (or maybe even the complete XML?) so he can adapt BulkEdit accordingly, because normally BE is only suited for the XML-Export of DVD Profiler, but he recently managed to help another user to migrate from CollectorZ. cya, Mithi | | | Mithi's little XSLT tinkering - the power of XML --- DVD-Profiler Mini-Wiki |
