| Posted: | | | | I have a rather large DVD collection that I'd like to catalogue with DVD Profiler. I'm considering to buy a C-Pen 20 scanner that scans barcodes. Here's the website for the scanner: http://www.cpen.com/artikel.php?aid=63&lang=EN
Can I use this scanner to scan the DVD barcode and add it to my list in DVD Profiler?
Anyone here using a C-Pen perhaps?
Cheers!

You might want to look for a Cuecat, preferably USB-Version, available e.g. for ~15USD from a Amazon.com-Seller. cya, Mithi | | | Mithi's little XSLT tinkering - the power of XML --- DVD-Profiler Mini-Wiki |

It said so on the package in the store, and in the manual: http://www.cpen.com/media/C-Pen_20_Guide.pdf The guide above states that it reads the following barcodes: "1D Barcode Types: Check Code 39, Check Interleaved 25, Code 128, Code 39, EAN 13, EAN 8, Interleaved 25, CODABAR (without checksum), UCC Code 128, Code 2 of 5 (Industrial, IATA, Matrix), Code 93, UPC-A, UPC-E and Postnet." Does this info make anyone wiser? Jorgen Toll |

From the manual: 1. Place the cursor at the position where the read text is to be inserted. Remember that the window has to be active.Well, that sounds exactly like the type of scanner you need for DVD Profiler. I still think it has a hell of a price, but if you also want it for it OCR-capabilities, go ahead and happy inputting. cya, Mithi | | | Mithi's little XSLT tinkering - the power of XML --- DVD-Profiler Mini-Wiki |

Yes, it's rather expensive. But I thought I'd use it for other purposes as well. Besides, this is the only barcode scanner I've found in the town I live in. I'll buy it tomorrow and give it a try.

Jorgen Toll Will the seller let you test it at his place beforehand? Or let you be able to return it if it doesn't work? I'd hate to pay a lot for something that didn't do what I wanted it for and not be able to take it back for a refund (maybe less a restocking fee). | | | Another Ken (not Ken Cole) Badges?
