| Posted: | | | | I'd love to have the ability to link 2 or more profiles for the purpose of showing that they are a sequel/prequel or belong to the same franchise or for other reasons I haven't though of yet Anyone else? |

| Posted: | | | | Yes. I was thinking of something related to this the other day - The Movie Picker, not something that I use but was just curious to see what it suggested I watched. I can't remember the exact film/TV series it suggested but it was one in the middle of the series. If we could link connected profiles together in order then the Picker could then be configured to not suggest a specific title until you've watched the previous one(s).
So yes, I support this. |

| Posted: | | | | Nice idea, but here are a few ideas you can possibly use to simulate the functionality requested.
Not really linking, but you can alter the sort titles so when you list them, they are listed together in chronological order.
You can also create flags per sequel group.
Another alternative is to create fake profiles as boxset placeholders. | | | View my collection at http://www.chriskepolis.be/home/dvd.htm

| Posted: | | | | As I was typing my above post I was simultaneously tagging every profile in my collection that is or has a sequel or prequel. There are 233 profiles now sporting that tag. Filtering on that tag shows all those profiles together, which although more handy than having them unfiltered, it isn't anywhere near close to having the funcionality of my request. The only other way to filter down further that I can see would be to create a child tag for every group of linked movies. Assuming that the average group contains 3 films then there would be 77 tags (or flag sets if you do it that way), not very practical. As for the sort title suggestion, I don't want to mess up my sort order just for this 1 feature. Same goes for manual profiles. I have enough manual profiles I have to filter out before applying another filter/sort to get the desired results. I think it would be great to have a small window or section of another window that displayed the titles of the other profiles in the group and linked to them like in the cast window. @Forget- Yes! I like that idea very much. Good thinking | | | Last edited: by MarEll |

| Posted: | | | | I know the OP has already indicated they don't like using sort order, but I think that's probably the best current option, and the one that I personally use. Although it doesn't help with the movie pick situation, it does mean when you go to look at a profile you see the pre/sequels around it. I also use it for different versions of the same material (e.g. sort - Batman 1943, 1949, 1966, 1989...), although I'm not always consistent (The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde is under S, and not sorted under D with the other J&H movies).
So far I've been lucky and nothing looks too odd using sort order for this purpose. I suspect the 007 movies (which I'll probably never own) would look a bit odd, and I've yet to pick up The Dark Knight. It would be nice to chain a series together without resorting to a pseudo boxset, but it's not a priority for me. | | | Adelaide Movie Buffs (info on special screenings, contests, bargains, etc. relevant to Adelaideans... and contests/bargains for other Aussies too!) |

| Posted: | | | | I go the route of creating manual profiles to group things. I just tag all those profiles so they're easy to sort out. So I have a manual profile called James Bond and put all my bond movies in there. Works great. | | | Get the CSVExport and Database Query plug-ins here. | Posted: | | | | I also would like a feature to be able to "link" profiles.
For the time being I may re-consider Mark's methed.
Mark, do you have a start-up batch that will filter out those profiles by default, so that the DVD list is in the original state when starting up...? | | | Achim [諾亞信; Ya-Shin//Nuo], a German in Taiwan. Registered: May 29, 2000 (at InterVocative) |

| Posted: | | | | +1 Would be great for owners of (e.g.) the single releases of "Letters from Iwo Jima" and "Flags of Our Fathers". Except for giving them either strange sorting titles, or creating a virtual boxset there's currently no possibilty of getting them "linked" | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

| Posted: | | | | Ok, I could have sworn I posted something similar about the ability to link prequels/sequels but i can't find it (yet). That being said, i am if you couldnt tell in support of it. While it could be done with tags (make a franchise tag and then sub tags underneath for each franchise...which i may go ahead and do) I think part of a profile would be a neater option.

| Posted: | | | | I use the Sort Title for this option. I have all the James Bond Movies sorted as "James Bond 1" to"James Bond 23". I have also done this with the Die Hard, Harry Potter, Underworld, Mission Impossible, Pirates of the Caribbean and Matrix movies. | | | Chris |

| Posted: | | | | I do that too. for the most part (my bonds arent because they are all in the box set) but that doesn't link them.
something that could then show me sequels and/or prequels. or a got to next movie go to previous movie button.
