I'm not sure if there are other titles that mirror this format of release or not. That being said, I've been recently doing full audits on the anime in my collection and have come across a question for you all. The rules state copy the title as shown exactly on the cover which I don't have a problem with, but sometimes I'm wondering if I'm doing the community any good by making these changes. Here's what I'm talking about: Many anime series will come out with the first volume in 2 different version. One stand alone release and one (usually limited) edition with an artbox designed to hold the complete series when it's completely released. 99% of the time, these artboxes only mention the volume/title that is included in said box (usually the 1st volume) on the bottom of the box in the contents section. No mention on the front or back of the box. Usually only the series title appears on the front and back of the box. Some examples: Trinity Blood: 704400084508 Witch Hunter Robin: 669198300691 Wolf's Rain: 669198240119 In almost every instance so far, the volume information is included, but per the rules I've been removing the Volume 1 info from a few profiles and so far they've been approved. But I'm not 100% confident I've done the right thing since they technically are Volume 1, but with the artbox around them. So for the following 3 they would be, "()" being in the edition field: Trinity Blood (Collector's Edition) --instead of-- Trinity Blood: Chapter I (Collector's Edition) Witch Hunter Robin (Collector's Box) --instead of-- Witch Hunter Robin: Arrival (Collector's Box) Wolf's Rain (Limited Edition Box) --instead of-- Wolf's Rain: Leader of the Pack (Limited Edition Box) The reason I ask is that if I keep removing the specific volume info, I might be making it harder for users to find what they're looking for. Anyway, any input would be much appreciated! | | | "The perfect is the enemy of the good." - Voltaire | | | Last edited: May 5, 2009 11:35 PM by Vittra |

Trinity blood or Trinity Blood: Volume 1. The fact that there is ultimately a slip case involved would not seem to be at issue, that will have it's own title for the set.

Skip The reason for clarification is that I believe many people use the boxset (Volume 1 w/ Artbox) as their volume 1 rather than making a child profile for the DVD that is included. Since these are TV series, I think that's within the rules as well as there are no requirements to make a child profile in this instance. But you are correct, only Trinity Blood is mentioned on the cover. No mention of the "Chapter I" that is included, and I have been removing this information because of no mention on the cover. I only ask if this is the correct way or if I'm doing something wrong. I'm still reletively new so when I see just about every title include said info, that I have been removing, I can't help but ask myself whether I'm not reading the rules right, or doing something I shouldn't be. Hopefully I'm not being confusing. Sometimes I have a hard time explaining these things. | | | "The perfect is the enemy of the good." - Voltaire | | | Last edited: May 6, 2009 12:04 AM by Vittra |

As a fellow anime fan I like the way that the Witchblade box (704400086304) is set up, with the box as a separate profile containing the profile for the Volume 1 dvd (704400086311) as a box set - as opposed to the Elfen Lied (702727131424) or Samurai 7 (704400058301) are set up. I am planning on setting up all my artboxes the way Witchblade is done when I get to auditing the anime portion of my collection. I personally think it's a cleaner and truer way to set up the profiles. | | | If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world. -- Thorin Oakenshield |

| Posted: May 6, 2009 4:24 AM | | | | Guess it was more clear cut than I initially thought... Thanks for the replies! I'll continue removing the info that isn't on the covers then. Like I said, almost every title I audit has the info of the volume inside so I thought I'd be sure I wasn't doing something wrong. Thanks again~ P.S. Danae, I agree with you. That is what I will be working towards as well. | | | "The perfect is the enemy of the good." - Voltaire | | | Last edited: May 6, 2009 4:26 AM by Vittra |

Setup a child profile with the actual title of the included volume. That is how I have been doing it as I watch shows and find they are not setup that way.
Also if you look in the "Pinned: Slip cases and slip covers with images" thread in in the "ANIME VOLUME + BOX" section they mention that it should be slipcase with included volume as child profile.
I said in a PM also but I'll say it here also keep up the good work. I've seen a lot of submissions from you with very good audits and lots of documentation on what you changed and why. |
