2. I would like to click on an icon or something and go to the first unread message in a thread
3. A feature to let you search for all new posts since the last visit.
If I'm missing these please let me know.
All 3 of these items are widely used in other forums and quite useful.

The closest thing to 3 is the "Today's Active Topics" link in the top-right corner of the main forums page. I know it's not the same, and I don't use it myself, but maybe it's better than nothing.
For 2, all you do is click the thread link and it will take you there. It even spans across multiple visiits, meaning it will take you to the first post made since you last read that thread, not since you last visited the forum as is the norm on many other forums.
