| Posted: | | | | My DVD collection is now hovering around the 1000 mark. I have definitely slowed down my purchasing habits, but I know I'm gonna keep buying them. The obvious problem I now face is storage --where to keep them? I'm running out of room. I wonder if you all might have any suggestions or comments on what you personally do to manage your large collections? I was thinking about looking at some kind of album to store all the DVD covers (inserts) and another album (or whatever) to store all the discs. (I thought I saw, at one time, an album that let you store both in the same sleeve.) I'm having a difficult time really finding something that looks good. I want to keep the 'specialty' cases like 'Lord of the Rings', 'Back to the Future', 'Indiana Jones', 'Chronicles of Narnia', etc., but all the 'normal' cases where it's just the disc and the paper insert, those I'd like to find another way to store them. I look forwarding to reading your feedback! And thanks in advance!!! |

I look forwarding to reading your feedback! And thanks in advance!!! I've seen DVD-sized plastic "wallets" where you put the cover art and disc within the same binder. You'll have to flatten the cover art of course, but I'm sure you can bend it so the crease will not be right at the spine. I'm not sure where you can find these, but a google search might help you. Try searching for DVD binders. I'm at 5500 DVDs (400 laserdiscs and some hundred VHS as well). I store mine on IKEA shelves with the spine out. But I also have 2 rooms just for my movies, but I do see a future storage issue, unless I can get my brother to move out permanently (I've given him one of the bedrooms which he use on weekdays, as he can't live with my parents, as the commute to his job is problematic, but he also pays half the rent for this one room, so I can't complain). What I have done though (to others who use the Billy shelves from IKEA) is buy additional shelf-plates. It comes with 5 within each, but you can easily add 2 more to each of them as long as you're keeping DVDs in them. | | | |

| Posted: | | | | There might be some information HERE. Or HERE. Or HERE. There's probably more. Just do a search on "Storage". Good Luck! | | | Just in from somewhere left of the middle of nowhere The Holy See Hell |

| Posted: | | | | Thankyou both (Beastus and Floorwalker) for your responses. I feel rather because I didn't search the forum before posting my question. I guess I got a little too impatient. Also, it didn't occur to me to search in the General Forum because I thought storage was more of an 'equipment' issue and better suited for the "General Home Theater Discussion." Thanks again for your responses. |
