| Posted: | | | | When we submit an official site should it be to the top level domain;
http://www.jarheadmovie.com/
or the homepage;
http://www.jarheadmovie.com/welcometothesuck.html

| Posted: | | | | Another vote for the top level domain. Not only if it's archived by the studio and re-directed to a DVD profile or something, but also if the structure of the site itself changes.

| Posted: | | | | isn't it fairly pointless to only link to the top level? You could have the situation where every warner film just links to warnerbros.com | | | Paul | | | Last edited: by pauls42 |

| Posted: | | | | I have to agree with Paul on this one. It does no good to have all the dvd releases linking just to warnerbros.com | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | Well, yeah, if the top level domain is generic then we'd have to be more precise.
But in the case of the example given above, and others like it, I think top level is best.
Meaning:
http://www.jarheadmovie.com/
is to prefer over:
http://www.jarheadmovie.com/welcometothesuck.html
Since welcometothesuck.html may very well be removed in favour of index.html or any other file name. Or the studio may in the future re-direct the entire domain to http://www.universalpictures.com/jarhead or something along those lines.

| Posted: | | | | Quoting Giga Wizard: Quote: we can change the link if it is no longer working. Linking to top make no sense at all. How does linking to jarheadmovie.com not make any sense? That one will always work whereas there's a chance that linking to a more specific URL might not. More often then not (as is indeed the case with the Jarhead example) the top-level domain will point to the more specific URL anyway. And yeah, sure we can change the link, but by linking to the top-level of individual movie URLs we avoid having to make any changes, and 100% of the functionality is still there.
