If we upload images for use in the forum what should be the maximum resolution allowed?
640x480:

800x600:

1024x768:

info: the colors have been decreased and compression is set at 50%

My personal view: 1024 x 768
This still allows to increase the viewing percentage to 200% and the small print (left corner) "waarschuwing" is still readable.

I don't think a limitation is useful. I didn't even think it was a problem.
The size needed depends on what you want to show with the uploaded picture.
We should leave it in the responsibility of the users not to submit too large pictures.
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

I would say: as small as possible, as big as necessary.
And there is always the possibility of using thumbnails, linked to bigger pics.

ACK! We but we also should consider the online performance of the users. Loading big pics 1024x768 in true color could be painful for dial-up users.

BTW: I would prefer 1400 x 1050

I love the quality of Giga Wizard's Photos,, but I just feel that the pixel size over 1024 throws the profiler forum pages out to far to the edges where you have to manually adjust the horizontal and the vertical. ( I sound like the announcer from the Outer Limits..    ),, I just wanted to point out convienant an 800 x 600 size is for us all ..

I want high speed, we my village has NO DSL, NO Cable, NO UMTS, NO WiMaxx

Give us thumbs nail links and the pages open good and then we can open the images that we want.

Ever thought of SkyDSL via satellite?
If you only choose "downlink" it's even affordable (not as cheap as the cable connections though).
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

I like the linked image better, my connection is fast enough but, like Terry said, the site layout is destroyed by this oversized pictures and sometimes I don't want to see this particular picture. And one click more isn't too much to ask for, is it?

I wonder if someone can create a greasemonkey script that will resize overly large images down on the invelos.com domain?
