When Daggers can Fly......

In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. Now the World is weird and People take Prozac to make it Normal.

I was reading yesterday that Sony was considering revisiting many of their BD titles to update them to Profile 2.0.  It's just a rumor and even if true, they may or may not choose to revisit this particular title.  But at least there's hope.

They can't, unless they secure a new (and preferably uncut) master...  So far the best disc I've seen is the "HD CAM Remastered" DVD from Zoke Culture.

"The film has a troubled history, and as a friend put it:

"For House of Flying Daggers, they went from film (first generation) into the computer (second generation @ 2k resolution loss), back to film (third generation) and then, back into the computer (fourth generation) for final digital master for DVD, etc."

Hence all the contrast/sharpness problems."

Are you referring to the wooden box (w/ dagger), 4 disc set?

Re HOFD

It's sad when a standard def DVD is better quality than the Hi Def BD

Yes, that's the one.  Great set even if the box is a bit prone to damage (but hey, not exactly a $300 item).
