This petition is for the:
content providers (Cox, Comcast, DirecTV, ect),
network executives (ABC, A&E, TBS, ect),
program producers (Joss Whedon, David E. Kelley, Mark Burnett, Jerry Bruckheimer, Donald Bellisario, ect) and
program providers (Viacom, King World Productions, ect),
to stop the current practice of showing programs on "HD-TV" in other than their "Original Aspect Ratio" produced screen size and not to "Stretch-O-Vision" programing just to fill a 16X9 HD TV screen.
I also suggest that, if you agree, you send silly putty to your favorite program provider and / or the head of the FCC, asking that programs must be sent in their native / orignal screen format?

| | Posted: | | | | David is talking about the practice of stretching a 1.33:1 or 1.37:1 ratio to 1.78:1 to fit a 16:9 picture screen. This also means taking a 1.85:1 ratio or larger and zooming in to fill the screen and eliminate the black bars.

In the past I have also seen the opposite, where they broadcast widescreen films "squished" to get more information on the regular TV, making all actors look exceptionally tall and thin. maybe they still do that for 2.35 films...?

But this still leaves the question if this is broadcasted in this fashion or if the TV or settop-box for HD simly is configured wrong. Because having black bars all around the picture seems ... pointless. cya, Mithi No it is being broadcast 'stretched' as everybody that is receiving TBS-HD is having the same issues.. just look at the TBS logo in the corner of the images.. TNT is worse! they only stretch the sides/edge of the image/screen..the center is OAR but the closer to the edge you get the more stretch you have... and it is hard to capture a HD-TV screen showing the same image as I have been trying... just some like the 'filled screen (dvd talk full screen) and others like myself prefer the 'OAR'... Many content creators and providers have some say as to how and when their programs are broadcast, due to contract provisions, And maybe you don't remember how much news Michael Bay made about a month ago over the HD-DVD / Blue-Ray battle, so you never know whom might have the correct ear to speak to to get this into the news and the broadcasts corrected. | | | Growing older is mandatory...Growing up is optional...

Who are the idiots that think making all the actors appear short and stubby is a good thing?
