| Posted: | | | | It's not specifically a Mobile Profiler question but, on a related note, does anyone here have Active Sync 4.5 running with Outlook 2000?
The release notes on Microsoft's website say:
Microsoft Office Outlook 2000 is not supported by ActiveSync 4.5. If a customer wishes to take full advantage of ActiveSync 4.5, then it is recommended that users upgrade to Microsoft Outlook 2007.
Does this mean it doesn't support all the features or that it won't work with it at all? | | | It is dangerous to be right in matters where established men are wrong |

Does this mean it doesn't support all the features or that it won't work with it at all? As far as I know ActiveSync 4.5 is a "downgrade": - no more support for Outlook 2000 (I think it means: You use it at your own risk) - no more support for converting databases on Windows Mobile 2003 devices - synchronizing via LAN/WLAN no more possible (maybe a security issue...) The new features are support of E-Mail Push technology, and the ability of deleting the complete data from the device via ActiveSync. I would recommend using ActiveSync 4.2. Do you really need 4.5? | | | Thorsten | | | Last edited: by kahless |

Thanks for the info; it certainly does seem like there wasn't any good reason to put it out as it loses functionality all over the place. I am using 4.2 (the minimum needed for Mobile Profiler) but was concerned if I had to upgrade incase of any issues that arose or if Ken made a future version of MP that required a later version. FWIW I managed to fix (I think) the only problem with 4.2 with a bit of Googling (Active sync is the culprit responsible for turning my PDA on by itself at regular intervals, which drains the battery) | | | It is dangerous to be right in matters where established men are wrong |
