I already requested this option something like 2 years ago but never saw my wish to come true.
I would like to be able to set an optional password to run DVDProfiler.
I'm using a shared computer at work and I don't want my colleagues to be able to access the program to see my collection, make changes in it such as removing data, crash my database ....
This could also be used at home for example to prevent kids from seeing some kind of covers they should not see.
This option would be disabled by default but could be enabled at any time.

Thanks Ken for this feature. Hi, I understand your intention, but you should consider, that a password protected executable is useless if your colleagues are really "bad guys". They could access you database in the explorer directly and manipulate/erase your data. Maybe third party solutions (hiding/encrypting) are better and more effective. But with adequate criminal energy you 're never safe...  | | | | Thorsten |

Of course, anyone can browse the hard disk and make damage to my database. It would be a 1st level protection. I'm not working with hackers or living with spy or KGB members.  I could also use an external drive or USB key as Dr. Killpatient suggested, but I don't want any solution of this kind. I just want to use DVDProfiler like anyone. If yes, and if the other users don't have local admin privileges (they shouldn't), your data should be relatively safe, as it is stored in your personal user profile.
Basically, instead of a password feature within the program itself, you could use the security and and personalization features of your operating system. |

They could delete the whole file but wouldn't be able to manipulate the data without going into the program. | | | | Paul |

If that's not the reasons why you want a password feature, what else is it? If you provide other reasons, it increases the chance the developer will understand and maybe adopt your idea... |
