| Posted: | | | | Hi
Would it be possible in the next version update to include a new media format, specifically related to no hard media based movies. For example downloaded movies.
I have over 200 movies that have entered the public domain which I have now downloaded and are stored as DivX movies on my media server.
It would be useful to be able to distinguish between my DVD media and my downloaded media!
Hope that actually makes some sense.
Love the new version 3.3 top work, thanks!

| Posted: | | | | I would recommend to implement a media type "Other". This could be used if somebody wants to profile his laser discs, VHS, DivX or whatever locally. At least add the possibility to deselect all media types. If you deselect all of them now, DVD is selected automatically again when you leave the edit window. |

| Posted: | | | | Skip Thanks for the reply. I see what your saying and yes DVDProfiler is for DVD's! true. However when everyone is downloading movies and they are no longer suppied on disc media won't you be lagging behind somewhat! After all why have two databases to do effectively the same job? For the sake of one tick box you could cover the full monty! I for one love DVDProfiler but if an alternative product was available that did DVD, Blueray, HDDVD, Downloaded content and whatever they dream up next to take my hard earned cash I would have to dump DVDProfiler and go for that option to save having two separate databases to handle movies. I appreciate what your saying but you have to move with the times and the times is moving fast! Cheers Yogiman! |

Yogiman! Yogi: That isn't my call. I only have the ability to tell you that your request is nothing new, not even close to new. But in the seven years I have been using the program, I have seen no indication of interest on the part of the programmer to go backwards to pick up tape or laser. We have picked HD and BD, and which ever one does not survive will more than likely be phased out. As for the concept of an HDDProfiler, this I consider still pretty much a pipe dream, though technology could change that overnight, but i don't see it on the horizon yet. For example, to duplicate a collection such as mine (which is definitely not among the largest) would take somehwere in the vicinity of 30-40TB of Hard Drive space, just for the titles, exclusive of Operating System or any other software...maybe someday...but we aren't even close yet. | Posted: | | | | Skip Don't agree, don't know why your talking about Video tape or Laser Disc because I wasn't. I am talking about movies which I have in for example DivX format and as it happens I have 6 Terrabytes at present and in the region on 1250 movies in DivX format So I am afraid I do believe the time is here. As for the programmers going backwards well I don't see how adding a tick box that says (download) or (DivX) is going backwards.... Hey Ho! Thanks for the reply my friend! Guess next time I should spend my hard earned cash on something worth while. Cheers! yogiman! |
