I've looked around and I haven't seen any real information on the plugins and how they're developed.

Do I have to request access to the plugin developer forum to find out if I have what it takes to create a plugin?

I have same problem. For example, I would like to know if plugins can be developed with C# (Microsoft Visual C# 2005 Express Edition). Should I register although I don't know if I really would start developing anything?

when you click the link to request access... you are asked the following questions:

COM-compliant development tools I'm familiar with:

My development experience is best described as:

I'll develop plugins for: Commercial sale? Free public download? Private use only?

If you have specific plans for a plugin, please give a brief description:

i think that should give you a start--- and if (unlike me) you know what a COM-compliant development tool is... then i guess you should ask for access.

You should request access to the plugin development forum.  That's where you'll get your questions answered.

For the record, Visual Studio is a COM-compliant development tool.  If you know how to call a COM componet in C#, you should have that one covered.  If you don't know how to do it, give it a shot anyway.  It's not too hard.  There is an SDK for C# and Delphi, but those aren't required.  You just have to know how to use COM from your language of choice.

Funny I was about to post a thread like this.

I'd be more interested in know what sort of functionality we can implement with plugin's.

For me, unless I can create my own tables/fields, there is nothing I want to develop.

Well, it's a tricky situation.  Ken as asked us not to post any details outside the plugin forum.  So I'm not really sure how much I can or can't say.

I'd say your best best would be to send Ken a PM telling him what you'd like to do and what features you think you might need to support your idea.

What I can say about creating your own tables/fields is to look at Tom Gaines Cinematic Collection Viewer.  That's one method a person can use to create tables and fields.  Although it may or may not meet your particular needs.
