| Posted: | | | | If you have an HD DVD player, have you updated the firmware to 2.1 yet? If so, did you have any problems? PM me either way. |

| Posted: | | | | If you have an HD-A1, do not upgrade to firmware 2.1 unless you have firmware 2.0 on disc. I have updated 5 times to 2.1 and I have had to roll back to 2.0 every time. A rollback is not possible without a previous firmware release on disc. Once upgraded, my HD-A1 will not output via the HDMI port. I get the NO DISC banner, but once a disc (HD or SD) is inserted or setup is pressed, all I get is purple snow. The sound works, but not the picture. I cannot even go to setup. I can view HD disc and SD disc over the component port, but SD disc will only display at 480P. I get a message that upscaling to 1080i is not allow for those type of disc over this connection.
I called Toshiba, and they said to unplug the unit for 5 minutes and then try it. I get the same results. Basically, Toshiba took my name, number, serial number and what my problem was and thanked me for calling.
I have my HD-A1 hooked up via the HDMI port to a HDMI-DVI connecter to my tv. They said that could be the problem, but that they really did not know.
All I know is everything works fine on 2.0 and 2.1 totally screws it up. |

| Posted: | | | | Boykin, this is now a known 2.1 issue related to HDMI/HDCP handshaking through DVI - several of us discovered this several days ago when it was first released. So, you're not alone. AVS-Forums have a ton of discussions around this. | | | Dyslexics are teople poo. | | | Last edited: by bpatt |

| Posted: | | | | I didn't know there was a 2.1 yet. Good thing, I guess. | | | "This movie has warped my fragile little mind." |

| Posted: | | | | Version 2.2 exists in order to take care of issues with 2.1. Response seems to be very positive. |

| Posted: | | | | I updated to 2.2. It completed normally and powered down the machine. Now when I turn it on I get "01 System Err". Toshiba is going to repair it as it is under warranty. They are sending a 2 day delivery UPS return lable, takes 2 days for repair, and 2 day return delivery. I should have my working HD A1 back in a week or so. |

| Posted: | | | | Updated to 2.2 for my A1 with no issues. I burned a .iso file onto a cd and all was good. For those that want the .iso file to burn for themselves, here's the link: firmware 2.2 download |
