I bought this first part of July, have been hanging onto it in hopes I could find it cheaper, and because no profile existed in DVD Profiler for it, when in fact one does (approved 06-30-2024), it's just never been released.
Why?
I finally entered it into Profiler, added an Overview (copied exactly from the back of the slipcover) and proper cover scans, and other tidbits of info I could gather for it, went to contribute what I'd gathered, only to find out a profile already existed, it's just never been released.
Again, why? | | | Time is the fire in which we burn. (Soran) | | | Last edited: by kd5 |

| Posted: | | | | It has been released, the problem is that the online profile list no longer updates when you click add to collection.
Go to Online in the Profiler menu and hold CTRL when you select refresh online profile list.
That forces a full download and you'll find you can add the existing Dune profile normally.
You'll need to do the refresh on a regular basis to make sure it's up to date. | | | IVS Registered: January 2, 2002 |

| Posted: | | | | It would have been nice if Invelos announced via email that this was going to be necessary from X date forward. And why should it be necessary anyway? Isn't DVD Profiler being maintained in the same way it has been in the past? Are we looking at End of Life here?
Forgive my ignorance, I don't frequent these forums as I should. | | | Time is the fire in which we burn. (Soran) |

| Posted: | | | | Well, I just pissed myself off. I updated my profile for this, which had information I wanted to keep, and it overwrote everything with the other profile. Damnit!!! Now I have to go in and edit the damned profile. This is not a good day. | | | Time is the fire in which we burn. (Soran) |

| Posted: | | | | I've considered it EoL since they stopped updating the program.
The problem with the updates have existed since they replaced the server that failed, it's only noticeable when you try to add profiles that weren't available the last time you downloaded the online listing.
Personally I've had 22 years use out of the program for a one time fee so whilst I'll be sad to see it finally end, I can't get angry about it. | | | IVS Registered: January 2, 2002 |

| Posted: | | | | Yes, it's sad to see that the programs get no updates and that the website isn't functioning as well as one would want. But still the desktop program and the iOS app on iPad work fine for keeping track of my discs. I don't buy very many new titles, and I may have to enter them myself rather than download them, but I can live with that. As long as these programs work, I'm sticking with DVD Profiler, because I haven't found anything that is nearly as good. | | | My freeware tools for DVD Profiler users. Gunnar |

| Posted: | | | | Is there another way of updating a database from adding the Online List to the folder? This did work, but recently it isn't, and I don't want to go down the full download route without any say over whether to accepted the updates or not, as mentioned by Lithurge earlier on. |

| Posted: | | | | It will still query you for every profile update, at least that's been my experience.
I'm down to refreshing the online list once or maybe twice a month. The releases are so slow being approved now anyway that waiting 15-30 days is beginning to look normal. | | | First registered: February 15, 2002 | | | Last edited: by Nexus the Sixth |

Doing what I suggested doesn't force you to update the individual profiles. All it does is make sure you've got the relevant file that tells your local profiler if an update or 'new' profile (if you don't already have it in your list) exists and is available for download. | | | IVS Registered: January 2, 2002 |
