I haven't even ordered it yet! Was thinking I'd get two copies, one to keep as a souvernir.

See, I have a sense of humor about this too

A follow-up from Digital Bits about his goodwill idea:

One last note this evening: That idea I floated yesterday, that the BDA should offer an olive branch to HD-DVD consumers? I mentioned it to senior BDA executives this evening, and I think you can safely say that they're going to move forward with something along these very lines in the weeks ahead. We'll post more when we can, but the idea was definitely warmly received. In fact, plans are already in the works. We'll post more on this as things develop.

I though this whole idea was utter nonsense until I read this. I of course would be thrilled for the chance to trade some of my HD DVDs to blue for a small fee.  I just can't believe a studio would actually do it.  I knew the risks going in and am willing to live with the consequences.  I honestly don't see why they compensate me.  It's not like my small HD DVD collection is worthless.  They still play just fine.  But I'll gladly trade if the option is presented to me.

I have some Sony Betamax Movies  in a box somewhere in the garage,, I wonder how many BD movies I could get for them..    ....

If you're lucky, they'll send you an empty case.

Titles which are limited to 1080i output on BD:

- Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (replacement programme expected)

Not exactly correct.  The PiP version of Terminator 3 is 1080i.  The regular version of the movie is 1080p.

Not exactly correct.  The PiP version of Terminator 3 is 1080i.  The regular version of the movie is 1080p.

Some differing opinions on that, I do not own the disc (any version) myself, though.

"Problems with the first batch of discs - the film is not in 1080p but in 1080i so quality will be a bit less. The Blu-ray for "Terminator 3" ran into some problems early on. Warner accidentally released it in the 1080i (interlace) format not the 1080p (progressive) format that yields higher quality video. That said, as one of the first Blu-rays with pip, "Terminator 3" looks quite good even if it was released in the lower quality 1080i format. The pip with Mostow doing his on screen commentary IS in 1080p."

At any rate, thanks for the mentions,
lyonsden5, Mark, pplchamp.

Nice!  "The studio says that once current retail supplies are depleted, the title will be discontinued -- making it an instant collector's item."
