Business reviews and forecasts are proprietary and usually closely guarded by most corporations, reserved for investors, management and the Board. Maybe you really meant something like a "preview of coming attractions."

With our continuing efforts to extend and improve the online DB, creating add-ons, language translation files and giving support to newbees here, aren't we all investors in Invelos      ...

I didn't intend a financial forecast. Whether one calls it "coming attractions" or "innovations" or business forecast, is a matter of personal preference, no offence.
Didn't go through all threads related, but as far as I remember, at least mentioned was:
* a version 4, with solved naming issues
* a revamped online presentation of your collection -possibly at extra cost-
* I do not have an Android phone, but apparently DVDp-A still has to come out of beta

At present, no clue which ones are still real and which ones have evaporated... left alone timing.

I hope Ken is working on this - and if he is, he can take another 12 months to make it perfect.

Though there is a beta right now, there's also a finalized version out there.

Heard about that one ...
Heard about unicorns and "Life On Mars" too.

Don't think I will ever see proof that any of those actually exists.
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

The beta has issues with cover images in Android 4.4.3 due to the images being placed in the wrong directory and updates to cover images never get downloaded either.

The finalized version still isn't listed on the front page of the invelos site.  I've seen quite a few people mention that they had no idea a version existed for Android (beta or finalized) since it's not mentioned at all other than in the forum.

A few have posted here that the program is working perfectly.  Well, it isn't.

Last night I ran into the issue, again, whereby a profile that I added to the wish list refuses to show up in the ALL or WISH lists.  When I go to add the entry again, the heart shows up indicating that it is already in the database, yet it refuses to list.  And yes, I did a database rebuild and nothing changed.

I'll be posting a separate thread about this problem, so please, no responses specific to this problem.

The point is that the software needs updating/fixing.

So, I too am wondering what is going on.

I have yet to find any software that has no bugs or quirks or compatibility problems that arise from changing environmental factors. A few of the outstanding ones are DVD Shrink, and other utilities of that era that just continue to work virtually error free, year after year, with no maintenance whatsoever.

In the top tier of the next level down is DVD Profiler. I find it remarkably stable relative to the amount of functionality it provides. Database integrity is its biggest downfall, but built-in remedies almost always recover from issues.

All software will always require updating/fixing as long as it is used. The amount will be dependent upon the quality of the coding and the degree of impact that the environment has on the original coding assumptions.

Can (general) you tell me one other program using any kind of db which has "repair db" function and you should use it quite often? I use many db based programs and have never used a db repair tool with them, it doesn't even exist because in normal db it isn't needed. DVDP needs a complete overhaul, not just fix this small thing here, another one there.

Any SQL database (Repair from SQL maintenance tool).
How often it is to be used depends on several variables (quality of hardware, software environment, database programming, datatypist, ...)

Which may help explain why an update is so long in coming.

But it doesn't explain why Invelos doesn't even hint that they are working on with it. If they even are.

Yes, I know that databases have checkdb tools but I've never seen a program that uses db which has this tool integrated, since db's in general don't need that function often, if at all, except DVDP.

That "Repair" usually is run as commandline parameter doesn't mean it's not integrated.

I'm aware of at least one SQL-based front-end that has this repair function integrated into the front-end menu structure: DATEV - programs.

To be honest, I often use the repair tool as a "cleaner" (to remove unused cast/crew) and quite never after a database problem (remember once several years ago, on a beta version). But I have probably a "simple" database (no parent/child profiles, no group dividers...)
