Top Ten High-Def Sellers...

Ghost Rider - 100
POTC - Dead Man's Chest - 90.46
Planet Earth (Blu-ray) - 82.35

Your text doesn't match the graphic.  Probably a side effect of hotlinking (you're a bad bad Internet user).

You just didn't look at it correctly.  That's all it is.

The chart is by title.  Ex. Planet Earth was released in both formats, therefore the HD DVD and Blu-ray sales were added together.  The text breakdown was done by format.

No need for an apology.

Charts are very often (if not always) internet's equivalent of a sleeping pill, A_S...

Hopefully semi-new announcements are a bit more "exciting" though.

- - -

Harry Potter, others coming in Q4:

"At the event for key retailers, Warner showed off 14 DVD collections that the studio will make available for retail this fourth quarter. Sets will include Harry Potter Years 1-5 Limited Edition Gift Set and The Gilmore Girls: The Complete Series.

Baker also singled out Warner’s upcoming 25th anniversary Blade Runner releases, which include four-disc and five-disc configurations, as especially critical for the studio.

The Harry Potter set, priced at $119.97 standard-definition and $149.99 Blu-ray Disc and HD DVD, will hold the first five films including the most recent theatrical installment, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. It represents the first time Warner has enhanced a Potter collection with exclusive memorabilia, which includes bookmarks and collectible trading cards.

The five-disc Blade Runner set is $78.92 and four-disc is $34.99. Blu-ray and HD DVD versions of the five-disc configuration also will be available day and date.

Warner also is touting upcoming new versions of catalog releases, including the Sept. 18 bow of Troy Ultimate Collector’s Edition Director’s Cut, not yet seen in theaters."

Universal Readies 'Knocked Up' for September HD DVD Release:

"Universal Studios Home Video is reportedly planning to bring the summer blockbuster 'Knocked Up' to HD DVD this September, day-and-date with the standard-def DVD release.

Universal is apparently planning to debut the summer comedy smash -- which has grossed over $140 million at the domestic box office and counting -- in R-rated and Unrated versions, the latter boasting an additional four minutes of unseen footage."

I think he is pointing out that the numbers you wrote do not match the numbers in the chart.

Ghost Rider:
You - 100
Chart - 71.79

POTC:
You - 90.46
Chart - 64.95

So you are correct, there is no need for an apology.

There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.

New Line to Launch HD Support with 'Hairspray':

"The last major studio holdout in the high-def sweepstakes, New Line Home Entertainment has confirmed earlier reports that it will release 'Hairspray' as their very first Blu-ray and HD DVD disc.

We contacted New Line Home Entertainment directly for comment, and they've confirmed to us that, indeed, the rumors are true. The studio is currently "in preparation" to release 'Hairspray' as its debut next-gen title, timed as a day-and-date release with the standard-def DVD version.

With the remake of 'Hairspray' only hitting theaters this weekend, New Line has yet to set a street date for its video release, but given the current theatrical-to-video window of roughly three-to-four months, a fourth quarter 2007 time frame seems likely.

New Line expects to have further details on their upcoming Blu-ray and HD DVD plans -- starting with a formal announcement -- in the coming months."

Toshiba's 'The Perfect Offer' For HD DVD Players Has Been Extended.

Toshiba (America) has announced it has extended its highly successful 5 free HD DVD disc promotion, "The Perfect Offer", until September 30, 2007.

As a result, with the purchase of any Toshiba HD DVD player, consumers will continue to be able to select five HD DVD titles for free, from a selection of 15, via a mail-in offer. Full offer details are available at http://www.toshibahddvd.com/.

Toshiba's 1080p HD- A20 is only $399 (MSRP), and for the best value in high definition, Toshiba's 1080i HD-A2 is only $299 (MSRP). The combination of an HD-A2 or HD-A20 HD DVD player and up to $150 worth of free movies is avalue that is unmatched by any other competitor. All the specifications of each HD DVD player model is available here.

Do note that in early September, Toshiba will add an enhanced performance function to its HD-XA2 and HD-A20 HD DVD players by offering the capability for users to update the firmware of their players allowing playback of film content in 1080p/24 frames per second, or 24p. Movie films are traditionally captured at 24 frames per second and Toshiba's HD DVD players will be able to maintain this frame rate allowing consumers to enjoy movies in their native form.

What format besides Blu-Ray do you believe Pirates of the Caribbean and Ghost Rider were released on?

I was going to just let this go, but you just wouldn't leave well enough alone.

The other numbers are different because it is based on percentages.  Obviously, if one chart combines HD DVD and Blu-ray (dual format releases), the other chart based on percentage would change.  Planet Earth (HD DVD and Blu-ray together) would be 100, since combined they are more than Ghost Rider alone.  The other numbers do not combine dual releases, therefore Planet Earth no longer equal 100...Ghost Rider would.  That changes the percentage for the others.

Some of you just need to leave this fairly simple thinking to those that can handle it!

If that is the case, then show your documentation to back that up.

You claim that Planet Earth is combined data.  That is supported by the chart.  You then claim that the Blu-ray percentage is 82.35...based on what?  That data is not supported by the chart.

Posting a chart with numbers different than what you are reporting is just stupid.  It makes it look like you are just making stuff up.  Adding an insult, after the fact, rather than answering the points raised just reinforces that 'look'.

I just explained the numbers.  This is truly sad indeed.  I even gave you'll the actually magazine link and you didn't even look through it to find the damn chart!

Now I have to REALLY EMBARRASS you, Battling Butler, wtmac, etc in front of everyone that reads this.

ALL YOU HAD TO DO IS GO TO THE FIRST POST ON PAGE 49 OF THIS THREAD AND CLICK ON THE FIRST LINK.

THEN, GO 10 PAGES INTO THAT MAGAZINE (Home Media Magazine) AND LOOK AT THE PRETTY PICTURES (go look at them now).

NOPE.  That was too hard for some of you guys!  THE SHEER STUPIDITY OF SOME OF YOU PEOPLE FRIGHTENS ME!

No wonder some of you still think HD DVD has a pretty good chance of winning the format war.

NOW, I've returned back to my civil state.
