| Posted: | | | | Thanks. At the moment, the label is not printed like I want it. It's set too low on the label, but I can't set it any higher *waits patiently* | | | Unfortunately, I can't use DVDprofiler at the moment due to lack of a Windows computer. |

The collection-number is turned so that it can be "twisted" on the spine - like this:
The part with my name and phonenumber are ofcourse hard-coded, but if you want the template, just let me know...
That is a lovely template. I hope to see it one day for my Dymo. If only I had known before, or I would have asked for the Brother. Actually, I'm using another layout now, as the "snip" with the number had problems staying on. So now I'm using this label: Same size label, and still with the number on the spine, but the barcode-part then wraps around to the back of the case. That way, the label is held in place whether the DVD is on the shelve or it's lying on the table... | | | The future is here. It's just not widely distributed yet. (William Gibson) |

You can print lables from anywhere - Excel. MS Word, HTML, text files, without any programming - no plugin required. There are also powerful tools for building plugin-level features and even new Dymo print drivers. We won't need any of that. I will post a simple script that you can paste into an HTML section that will print a label and describe how to tailor it to your needs. I will probably start a new thread somewhere - maybe in the Layouts Forum, because this thread is really for the PTouch plugin, and I don't want to continue to discuss Dymo much more here. | | | Thanks for your support. | Posted: | | | | Quoting EdwinK: Quote: O... Thank you very much By the way, I'm not sure if I posted this before, but here is some useful info: How to use the P-Touch Plugin and Brother Software without having a printer (just as I did):(1) In windows, go to Control Panel, printers and install a new printer (2) Choose the Brother model 550 (3) For "port" choose "print to file". Now your system has a Brother "printer"! (actually just the driver). (4) Go to the Brother web site and download the b-PAC SDK Client (you don't need the whole package) (5) Also download the P-Touch Editor, version 4. (6) Install b-PAC and the Editor. You can now create and edit Brother P-Touch labels (and share with Rander!) (7) Install the P-Touch plugin and practice printing ONE label in Preview mode. You have to read the plugin instructions of course. After running (don't try to print), you will find an image of the complete label save in the plugin directory. When you print multiple labels, you will find them all there, as "upc.bmp". (8) Make a text file list or spreadsheet of all the .bmp file names and you can create Dymo labels automatically from a simple template that has an image that fills the whole label. It will get the file name automatically as a "text variable" that you set up on the image object. That way, if you want, you can actually use the P-Touch plugin to create Dymo labels!! How to use the Dymo Software without having a printer (just as I'm doing):(1) In windows, go to Control Panel, printers and install a new printer (2) Choose the Dymo model 400 or turbo 400 (3) For "port" choose "print to file". (4) Go to the Dymo web site and download and install the Dymo SDK and the label editor. You will then be able to create, edit and preview Dymo labels from VB, Excel, MS Word, HTML, custom programs - anything. It is very powerful. Both the P-Touch and Dymo label editors will print to any system printer (edit: not true, but you can print to them from other applications such as MS Word or even DVD Profiler). How to Get The Data from DVD ProfilerThe P-Touch plugin automatically provides this function. For Dymo label printing, you need to create a text data file, MS Word file, Excel CSV file, Excel XML file to use with a Visual Basic or JavaScript/HTML script.- For XML, use DVD Pro XML Export - one or multiple labels - For CSV, use the CSV Export plugin - For JavaScript/HTML, use the DVD Pro HTML Sections (this is the script I am creating) - For VBScript or .BAT file scripting, uses DVDProfileLoop plugin (Later, I will make a script for this also) | | | Thanks for your support. *trying again when I wake up* I think nicovoet installed the client. Maybe send her a PM. Otherwise, if you have the space, go ahead and install the whole SDK - the cllient will be included. I hit the same problem with the serial number. I think I found a site with the software using Google. I remember some roundabout thing I did, but it's out there somewhere. Of course I am not authorized to redistribute it. Also, maybe by the time you wake up, you will have the HTML script anyway. | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. What, you never have thunderstorms? Last time we had a major power-failure here, it was MASSIVE! AFAIR, it started with a short curcuit in a transformer somewhere in Sweden, and then just spred! Within second, all of Sealand with surrounding island (i.e. all of eastern Denmark) and a large portion of the southern Sweden went black! I was in school when it happened. I got all the way to the station before it dawned on me: No power, no trains! Newer seen so many packed busses before, but everyone actually smiled about it... It went out around 2:00 pm - I think we got power back around 3:00 am... | | | The future is here. It's just not widely distributed yet. (William Gibson) |

| Posted: | | | | Hi Mediadogg, My response was not to demotivate you. I'm realy sorry if I did. You said you didn't have the time to create that plugin wich I understand so I responded to you that I would try to create one myself wich I did but unfortunately as I expected it didn't work out even with the help of dymo. That's OK I understand. I will try to make the plugin myself with the help of Dymo and hope it will work. wich I doubt because I'm not a programmer.
Thanks anyway for the time you put in the creation of the plugin for my brother labelwriter.
Long time since, but any news on this? Using a dymo labelwriter here, and I really hope a plugin like this one will be available for the LW too. Unfortunately, I can't make those thing my self My answer was exactly what nico's quote was responding to. So far, I haven't gotten any response to my proposal other than "that's ok, I'll do it myself." I am sure you can understand why I am not highly motivated after a comment like that. |
