| Posted: | | | | I don't think that there is any difference between the two versions (the 'build' being the same means that they are from the same compliation (as in compiled code) - i.e. same program).
Weio, are you sure it wasn't wine-gecko-installation? If it was, then this isn't a change to this Wine version - you're just experiencing something that you may not have before. Gecko starts to install part way through DVDP starting for the first time, and the splash screen hides the pop-up. In KDE (I've no experience of Gnome) I can choose to move the Gecko pop-up by right clicking on it's entry in the taskbar, or you can add the 'nosplash' switch to the command that starts the program.
Once Gecko's installed, DVDP will finish loading as normal and should be 'fully' functional (or as fully as it gets under Linux).

| Posted: | | | | You are right. It was wine-gecko-installtion and i was able to download and install gecko after moving the window. But the main problem isn't gone. The HTML View is disabled and i don't know where to switch it on.

| Posted: | | | | I hadn't even realised that was a problem. I'll look at that a bit more and add a note to Wine Bugs if necessary. I suspect that this error is because DVDP is not finding some IE specific functions, and deciding that the rendering must be switched off. I know that if you use winetricks to install IE6 the HTML will render, but it still won't function fully (e.g. links to contribution notes). I think that key for me though isn't that it works 100%, but that there is progress - i.e. that the icon has indeed improved and that the "invalid floating point operation" is gone. | Posted: | | | | I just downloaded VMFusion and have it running on my Mac and DVD Profile of course works great since it is loaded on a XP type install. The only downside is 80 bucks for the program. |

| Posted: | | | | I'm having problems resizing windows in DVD Profiler. I'm running Mepis, a Linux OS, on an Acer Aspire One netbook. Originally, the problem was that some of the "secondary windows" (like view history, watched by, etc.) were too big for the small Acer screen. For example, in the watched by window I could choose the watcher but the "OK" button wasn't visible at the bottom of the screen so I couldn't actually add the event. Somewhere I found an option to resize the window (forced resize). What I didn't know what that it would resize future windows! Now my secondary windows are not displaying all of the information/fields either vertically or horizontally. I haven't been able to refind the forced resizing option again. This by the way is only a problem on my Acer...because of the small screen size (8.9" widescreen.) Edit: I found (I think!) what I was looking for (Control Center, windows specific settings) but am not sure what to do to get the desired result. Part of the problem involves the bottom toolbar (kicker) as the open window is underneath the toolbar. Is there a way to make the kicker bar disappear, like what you can do in Windows by having it disappear & then reappear when you move the cursor over that area? Edit: I got it. I was looking for "kicker" or "toolbar" to try to enable hiding it but KDE refers to it as a "panel". Was able to hide the kicker panel & can now see what I need to see in the secondary windows. | | | Last edited: by bbmountain |

| Posted: | | | | Has anyone been able to print a DVD Profiler report to pdf? I don't have a printer hooked up to my computer and would like to print reports to pdf files. There is supposed to be a way to print to pdf from non-KDE programs (like DVD Profiler.) I'm using Mepis 8 as OS. I have the necessary ingredients installed: cups-pdf, cupsys, libcupsimage2, ibcupsys2, and kdeprint. I've added a virtual printer (pdf printer). In DVD Profiler, PDF is the shown printer, and when I click print it seems to be printing (shows page numbers as they print.) But the created file is no where to be found. I wish that DVD Profiler included more options for the print function! |

| Posted: | | | | Hi,
I'm using Wine 1.1.6-1.1 on OpenSUSE 11. I installed IE6 using winetricks and got rid of the invalid fp error.
I'm having two minor problems (had those also before using IE6):
1. If I enter anything into "Overview" it's not kept. Anything I enter into "Notes" or "Easter Eggs" is kept though?
2. If I, in the menu, chooses "Online | Othe Websites | IMDB Search for This Title", nothing happens. I'm using Firefox btw.
Any suggestions? | | | Last edited: by GoodVibrations |

| Posted: | | | | bbmountain I've only had a brief try with virtual printer's under Linux (because there are so many ways to get the same results without faffing), but it seems that Wine is not detecting the psudo-printer. I've no experience with it I'm afraid, so all I can do is give you this link. I was surprised to see how few options there were though. I often solve the problem by printing to a postscript file (.ps - most printer drivers convert to ps and the printer then prints their native postscript language) and then using the ps2pdf tool to convert to PDF (a more honest version of what many pdf printers do). GoodVibrations The first thing that I'd suggest is going to the latest version of wine. There is a wine repository in the OpenSUSE community repositories making life very easy (add them via YaST Software Repositories if you've not done it before). The latest version of wine dispenses with the need to have ie6 installed to et rid of the invalid floating point. I can't reproduce the overview issue with wine 1.1.14 (I also use OpenSUSE 11.0) - works fine for me. The issue with Firefox (or any browser for that matter) not loading from within DVD Profiler is a known issue (see bug report 17079). I've not tested it to confirm yet, but it looks like it may be the same error in bug 13891 (follow the bug-comments), so the workaround there may work. Stuart | | | This is a sig... ... ... yay...

| Posted: | | | | 1. Upgraded to 1.1.14 and I can now type in Overview and get it to stay there. I had locked Wine to 1.1.6 because 1.1.7 caused another program to stop working. All my Wine progs (4) seems to work with 1.1.14.
2. I tried the fix (%1) and it works. I now can get IMDB by clicking on it.
Thank you very much Stuart for your help. |

| Posted: | | | | Hi! I am a Windows XP guy that moved to a Mac running Leopard. I use BOOTCAMP to keep WinXP available for the sole purpose of running DVD Profiler. I am attempting to install DVD Profiler on my Mac and having a couple of problems. I downloaded and installed the latest version of Wine. I also downloaded Winetricks and saved it to my Desktop. I made it an executable by issuing chmod +x /Desktop/winetricks using Terminal. When I attempted to run Winetricks using Terminal I got a message stating 'command not found.'
MacPro-downstairs:~ Ray$ cd Desktop MacPro-downstairs:Desktop Ray$ winetricks -bash: winetricks: command not found
So I searched the web and found where someone said to put SH before the command:
MacPro-downstairs:Desktop Ray$ sh winetricks Cannot find wine (wine) MacPro-downstairs:Desktop Ray$
And now it cannot find 'wine.' I used Xray Vision and I see that .wine directory was installed in USERS/Ray.
Not sure why it says it cannot find it and I am at a lost as to what I need to do. Where should the .wine folder and winetricks script be placed?
Thanks |

| Posted: | | | | Not being a MAC user, I can't speak with much authority. However, I would use Darwine rather than wine (if you have not already). Take a look at the Wiki/knowledgebase refferenced in the first thread and again in my sig.
The program will install to an appropriate location, and the user/psudo-computer specific information will be stored in USERS/Ray/.wine (things such as registry files, Windows program installations, etc.).
I'm not sure why it can't find wine, but this may be an issue solved by using Darwine... or not.
Hope that get's you somewhere!

| Posted: | | | | Hi Stuart: Thanks for the feedback but I did install Darwine. I am following the instructions provided by you in the very first entry on this topic. It says to install "wine" by clicking on the link which brings me to a file containing several versions of Darwine. I downloaded and installed the most current version and the .wine folder was placed in my user directory as you stated. The problem occurs when executing the documented winetricks examples to continue the installation:
"./winetricks" - brings up information on winetricks and the different commands "./winetricks gecko" - installs Gecko "./winetricks tahoma" - installs tahoma.ttf font "./winetricks corefonts" - installs MS Times and Ariel fonts
It is the winetricks script that is putting out the message stating that it cannot find wine. Am I supposed to have modified the winetricks script? |

| Posted: | | | | It's been a long time since I did that (I am now using VMWare Fusion) but I think to remember that indeed something needed to be done with winetricks. You either had to make it executable (sh) or make sure to copy it into the same folder as wine. EDIT: A quick google seems to confirm the theory here. | | | Achim [諾亞信; Ya-Shin//Nuo], a German in Taiwan. Registered: May 29, 2000 (at InterVocative) | | | Last edited: by nuoyaxin |
