| Posted: | | | | Quoting amirm: Quote: So the only reason to have continue the discussion is if anyone else thinks his points have merit in which case, please chime in and I will respond to those points. Otherwise, I assume he hasn't managed to convince anyone and we can move on.... I don't think A_S is really fooling anyone. Although I enjoy reading your posts, you've not really opened my eyes to the "truth". Most of us are just convinced that he's trying to push everyone to HD-DVD. For the record, I had the chance a couple months back to attend an event put on by Amir and it was a very fun evening. If you ever have the chance to attend one of these events (in Portland), you should go for it. I'm not sure it's been mentioned, but Amir is VP of something or other at Microsoft and knows what's he's speaking about. So regardless of which side of the fence you pick, at least you're getting good information. Thanks for the posts Amir. I too am on vacation and appreciate the time you're taking to visit our little forum again. You had to sign up again because there was a small change in ownership of DVD Profiler which led to a new site being created. BTW, I'm visiting one of the bigger amusment parks here in Ohio tomorrow and plan to wear my HD DVD t-shirt I got from the Portland meet. Although this is farm country, so I'm not even sure how many people will understand it. | | | Get the CSVExport and Database Query plug-ins here. Genius! Yes because you always provide links so you must be right. It's on the internet so it must be true! |

| Posted: | | | | Thats stand alone players excluding PS3 or 360 add-on. I'm pretty sure the same is true in the states, due to the expense of standalone BD players until relatively recently. |

Genius! Of course he has an agenda. But that doesn't make him a liar. Most of us are actually intelligent enough to not only recognize the agenda, but to also put his comments in proper perspective along with that agenda. If you think we should only be paying attention to unbiased information in this HD war, then you're wearing out your keyboard for no good reason. Don't even try to claim you don't have an agenda. Agenda or not, he's a great source of information. I follow the insiders thread and pay just as much attention to the Blu-ray insiders. They too have an agenda. Only listening to one side is the dumbest way to try to follow this war. | | | Get the CSVExport and Database Query plug-ins here. Create fake parent profiles to organize your collection. |

Agenda or not, he's a great source of information. I follow the insiders thread and pay just as much attention to the Blu-ray insiders. They too have an agenda. Only listening to one side is the dumbest way to try to follow this war. This man has wisdom and I wish to sign up for his newsletters. As much of an ass that A_S has made himself (knowingly or unknowingly), he does still provide a fanboy side of the info. Amirm and some others provide the other side of the info. I hesitate to call Amirm a fanboy as it's no secret who he's employed with, but it's fairly obvious he's biased. A_S on the other hand is a bit of a mystery which makes him questionable. That doesn't negate the information either side provides. Actually, knowing where Amirm is coming from does make him a but more believable as far as the info goes. A_S started off trying to be "just the average guy who did some research" but as this thread has progressed has suddenly turned into "an expert in audiology and holds several patents" which came out of nowhere (atleast for me). That screams "plant" or I guess in this case part of BDA's "Phase Hydra" to me. Still doesn't mean the info he provides is completely bogus. Is it skewed? Of course. But no more than the other side. Knowing all this still lets you parse the info. I check this thread (and several others at other sites) daily to see where they go and what info is provided. I consider myself "Joe average consumer wondering which side will win and who doesn't want to get stuck with the 20th Century Betamax" so I'm definitely curious how this will go. I surely hope it doesn't last 10 years like the VHS/Betamax battle. I'm actually tempted to just purchase a dual-format player closer to Christmas so I don't have to worry about these stupid format wars. Anyway, I forget ehat I was trying to say and for that I blame the wine. I think it had something to do with listeing to both sides and maybe Mark having a newsletter that I'd totally sign up for if he didn't spam my email.. but I'll just click Submt and go to bed. | | | "Rules are for the obedience of fools and the guidance of wise men" - Douglas Bader "A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools." - Douglas Adams |

Some of us are intelligent enough to see that. As an example...He said Universal didn't do TrueHD on titles until after King Kong. That was a lie that was uncovered by the link I provided. Did he apologize? No. So, that probably wasn't a simple mistake. What is the precise definition of a liar? Don't even try to claim you don't have an agenda. Funny. That didn't seem to be your stance a couple months ago. Maybe I just took your posts the wrong way somehow. This may confuse a lot of people here, but I will say it for the few it will reach. The only way to truly be unbiased is to be biased by the truth. Yes, everyone has an agenda or goal. When your agenda is appointed by a company, how much of the truth can you say without being removed (especially knowing you are on the team with the inferior product)?
