In your opinion. Facts are a terrible thing, aren't they Your sig gives an indication of why Android is difficult to develop for: "HTC Droid Incredible 2, not rooted, Gingerbread 2.3.5, 768 or 1gig internal (?), 32 gig SD card" Gingerbread??? GINGERBREAD! You need to update to a modern phone OS. Jellybean is wonderful. Just wish more that 6% of Android users were on it.... | | | Last edited: by johnd |

Jellybean is wonderful. Just wish more that 6% of Android users were on it.... Person A: Use a screwdriver from Sears; they are much better. Person B: That's dumb. Get one from Hope Depot; the ones with the yellow handle are best. Person C: That putrid yellow?? That's icky. Much better are the ones from Lowes, with the space-age clear plastic handle. I just wish more people used these, so I could feel cool about my decision. Hey guys; it's a TOOL, for doing one or more tasks. As the saying goes, "Love people, not things; use things, not people." If the tool doesn't fit the task do you make the task fit or do you invest in the proper tool? Just askin' |

However, the prior comments seemed to be centered around "which OS is better", which (in my opinion) has nothing to do with the topic at hand. The topic is that there is a version of DVDProfiler for the iPhone but not one for Android (it could have been the other way around). Conversely, there are useful apps for Android that are not available (eg, are banned or removed) from the Apple app store. As you suggest, you decide what tasks are the most important to you, and then pick the tool (or tools). I know people that have two smartphones for that very reason. |

Hey, I was just throwing out a line. To each his own. Personally I'm happy with the free app by kitoliver (see other thread in the forum), and his progress. Since it's free, and on his free time; we get what he has time for. So far that is a VERY workable solution for Android. As for whether my phone is or isn't rooted, runs xyz version of Android, or jumps through a hoop backwards: THAT is my business. I was just kidding around with the iOS fanboy |

Your sig gives an indication of why Android is difficult to develop for: Apple is easy because you are not allowed to develop for old versions, not because old versions don't exist. I have a 2nd gen iPod touch*, still works fine but since it's 4.2.1 there will never be any new apps for it. The new version of DVDProfiiler requires 4.3+ so I'm stuck on the old version. It would be like MS saying you are not allowed to sell programs for Windows XP. *Yes I should have thrown it out years ago and bought all the new versions as they came out. | | | Tom. |

*Yes I should have thrown it out years ago and bought all the new versions as they came out. So am I and as far as I'm concerned Apple won't be getting any more of my money. I will not be forced to upgrade perfectly good hardware just because Apple wants to artificially cripple older products to force users to upgrade. |

| Posted: | | | | I'd love to see a non-beta version of the app appear ... one that syncs nicely with the windows app.
As a recent escapee from the Land of iOS this is one of the few things I really miss.
I'd prefer not to have to investigate alternatives as DVD Profiler has served me well for a few years now. |

Apple is easy because you are not allowed to develop for old versions, not because old versions don't exist. Now, really, you know that's not true. Let's have a quick look at some popular apps. Remember, the latest iOS version is 6.0.2: Evernote - requires iOS v5 or better Goodreader - requires iOS v4.3 or better Pages - requires iOS 5.1 or better WWF Together (a new app, recently released) - requires iOS 5.0 or better Obviously, some people will get left behind if they don't keep up, but your statement is hyperbole to say the least. |

| Posted: | | | | I gave up waiting a long time ago. Instead I have: 1) Created an export file using the Export File Database plugin. 2) Import the data file 'Collectorz Movie Collector' which I use in conjunction with Windows Media Center in my HTPC. 3) Sync the data in 'Collectorz Movie Collector' programme with the Collectorz 'CLZ Movies' App for Android via an online clone of my Collectorz movie database collection. 4) I use my DVDProfiler as my master database. For any changed profile I export only that profile and import it into 'Collectorz Movie Collector' which is synced with the app via the online collection. Until recently you couldn't amend any profiles in the 'CLZ Movies' app. They could onlly be updated by synching via the online database. I recently received an email about a new verssion of the app which I believe allows editing of profiles in the app, however I haven't got around to updating that yet, and in anycase, I only want one database as a master for any edit changes. At present I am using an Opticon OPN-2001 barcode reader to scan a DVD case in my DVDProfiler, and create new profiles etc, and that does it pretty quickly and efficiently. I prefer my DVD Profiler database to the Collectorz database as the profiles they have in their database are not peer reviewed as they are here (not that 80% + profiles are accurate in here either). Cumbersome yes, but it works for me. | | | Veni, Vidi, Visa, Vista, Voodoo, Vino I came, I saw, I bought, I installed Vista, I'm now haunted, I need wine

I don't need to keep up by purchasing new hardware when my hardware is working perfectly fine. I paid for DVDProfiler for iOS and can't even get the latest version of the app with the beta fixes because Apple refuses to allow me to upgrade my iOS software. All simply because they want me to purchase newer hardware so they can make even more money. No thanks. |
