| Posted: | | | | Quoting Medieval Guy: Quote: I added Star Trek Discovery: Complete Series Blu-rays to DVD Profiler, and as so often happens it had no data. So I used CastCrewEdit to supply it. The cast went in as expected, but when I tried to add the crew, DVD Profiler crashed. Not instantly, but within a few seconds. Tried three times, with the same result. (The third time, in the spirit of gamer thrashing, I closed CastCrewEdit first.) I just re-tried this, and it worked...it took forever, but no crashes and in the end, the data was successfully added. |

For example, I can parse Kick-Ass 2 without problems, yet with Kick-Ass 1, there are several problems: Some departments seem to be cut of at one point, not everything gets parsed, If a crew member is listed under a differend name, this differend name gets used as the role of the member, Some listing from the different art deparments get listed under 'other'. There are no problems with the cast. Before the update there where no problems, I didn't chance any settings, and I even try to parse Kick-Ass 1 & 2 with a newly donwloaded version of cast/crew edit - the same problems occured. However, I don't really know how to reproduce these problems. Several different movies I could parse without problems, others with the aforementioned troubles. I hope you can fix this nonetheless! |

| Posted: | | | | Yeah the problem is that IMDb switches more and more away from the classic (i.e. 1990s and 2000s) way of delivering web pages and switches more to the modern load-more-data-as-required style that is in use almost everywhere nowadays (and for good reason). For example if you have a chat app on your phone that's mostly just a website disguised as an app and when you see the three dots when someone's typing that is this modern dynamically loading of new elements into the webpage. Unfortunately for us the same is true with the crew data. The website I get delivered from IMDb only contains the initial bulk load of data and any browser would then be able to instruct the web server to deliver more data. Unfortunately I cannot simulate this. We already encountered this problem with anime shows that have more than 50 episodes in a season that just seems to get cut off. I haven't found a way to fix this yet. Quote:

can you give me a concrete example to look into this? Quote:

| Posted: | | | | I tried it again today and some movies work just fine, some don't. I can't see a system in what works and what doesn't. Some movies are old, some are new, some have 50 crew members, some 1500. For every instance I have a movie that did work, and another which did not. Quoting DJ Doena: Quote:

can you give me a concrete example to look into this? Yes, for example in the movie 'Kick-Ass': Sara Bicknell is listed under the art directors as the following: 'Sara Bicknell - art director (as Sarah Stuart)'. However, after parsing, it gets listed as 'Sara Bicknell - as Sarah Stuart', with no listing of the art director position. I also tried to add what I copied directly from cast/crew edit, maybe this might be of help: Credit CreditType="Art" CreditSubtype="Custom" CustomRole="As Sarah Stuart" FirstName="Sarah" MiddleName="" LastName="Bicknell" BirthYear="0" CreditedAs="" Quote:

This one as well please. Also from 'Kick-Ass': Amber Chase is an 'additional makeup artist', so she should be listed as Art Department - custum. After parsing, she is listed as other - custum. Credit CreditType="Other" CreditSubtype="Custom" CustomRole="Assistant Makeup Artist" FirstName="Amber" MiddleName="" LastName="Chase" BirthYear="0" CreditedAs="" Thanks you in advance for this great tool and all the work you put into it! It's very much appreciated! |

| Posted: | | | | Quoting DJ Doena: Quote: try the new version Thank your for the update! Parsing 'Kick-Ass' works without troubles, however some problems are still found in other profiles. I added the code from what I copied directly from the programme. All examples are from the movie 'Lifeforce': Every person that has 'credited as' is listed under director and not in the appropriate department. Credit CreditType="Direction" CreditSubtype="Director" FirstName="Stephen" MiddleName="David" LastName="Brooks" BirthYear="0" CreditedAs="Steve Brooks" Stephen David Brooks is part of the special visual effects crew and shouldn't be listed under director. Film Editors and Wardrobe Department are listed under 'other' and not the respective departments. Credit CreditType="Other" CreditSubtype="Custom" CustomRole="Editor" FirstName="John" MiddleName="" LastName="Grover" BirthYear="1938" CreditedAs="" Credit CreditType="Other" CreditSubtype="Custom" CustomRole="Wardrobe Department" FirstName="Brian" MiddleName="" LastName="Cox" BirthYear="0" CreditedAs="" 'Additional Crew' still doesn't get parsed at all and departments with many listings get cut off. Since this only happens in combination with the other problems, I suspect this may be connected. The other movies, also movies with several 1000 crew members (e.g. Avengers: Age of Ultron) get parsed without this cut off. Furthermore I noticed that after parsing the movie title gets an added 'Full Cast & Crew'. This doesn't happen with the profiles where the parsing works. The first example is from 'Lifeforce'. Notice the added 'Full cast & crew', that's missing in 'Leviathan'. 'Leviathan' parsed without problems, 'Lifeforce' with the aforemention problems. ?xml version="1.0" encoding="iso-8859-1"? CrewInformation Title Lifeforce (1985) - Full cast & crew /Title ?xml version="1.0" encoding="iso-8859-1"? CrewInformation> Title Leviathan (1989) /Title I'm sorry to trouble you again, I'm uncertain if I may be alone with these problems and that they may lay with my PC, so I will try to check with another Computer soon. Again, thanks in advance! |

| Posted: | | | | Thanks for always keeping this mighty tool up to date, Carsten. Much appreciated.
One question: As I have CCE2 running on two computers, is there any chance to merge the two local persons/birth year cache files into one (to update it on both computers from time to time?
I asked the same question in 2014, it seems. Let's see... | | | Last edited: by TraunStaa |
