Over (re)acting much?

Now, if that little wiseguy emoticon is meant to make your statement a joke then...LOL! Cool.

If it's not meant as a joke; but only lessening the blow of what could be misconstrued as an under-handed, passive-aggressive attack then...the answer is simply: Not really.

Why?  I don't get it...

Art should be bought for a multitude of reasons - none of which should be because "our sofa's red, so let's buy the red painting over there!". Just my opinion.

Again, why?  If I had a couch I loved.. and say a some drapes I thoguht would go well with it... why would that be a bad thing?

See above - actually, more a personal thing. Curtains should compliment the decor in a room not the furniture; this allows for more flexibility when it comes to changing the room. I, personally, feel more thought should go into a room than just....see above statement.

Quite the broad statement.  Like others have pointed out, a tad reactionary.

Nope, just an opinion. Once again, not a reflection on the users just the tool. If I'd said "I hate mayonnaise and think it's the most disgusting substance on the face of the planet" would people have got so bent out of shape. I feel like I'm facing a lynch mob. BTW I really do hate mayonnaise and DO feel that way.

But I can see how it could be fun & useful.

As do as. As I've stated.

A long ways from being the most pointless invention in the history of man!

Your opinion? I beg to differ. I do not see a benefit to Twitter. I do not see that it has added anything to the communication world that other, better, innovations hadn't already done. Facebook was already out there and doing what Twitter does a lot better. What was the point of creating a tool that limits how much you can say and leads to many, many people posting information about their morning bowel movement or the contents of their breakfast? I'm sorry, but I see no need or benefit of such a tool.
I realise there are people who use Twitter for other things (as shown in this thread), but from my experiences with the tool and from investigation and conversations with others...those people are in the minority.
Do I think Twitter should be obliterated? Of course not! People enjoy it and they should continue to do so.

So, why all the hoopla over my opinion? In the grand scheme of things who cares if I dislike Twitter or Mayonnaise, or Hula Hoops or Hersheys Bars?
Was is the 'in the history of man' bit that stuck in people's throats? I don't know. If so, would 'I hate Twitter more than life itself' have been better? No, it wouldn't.
In the history of man is as much a 'turn of phrase' to me as 'more than life itself'. Neither statement is to be taken literally.

I'm tempted to take the stupid post out because people here really have overreacted to it; but by the same token; it's how I feel and I have a right to my opinion - as many people in this forum like to spout.

3. People who think a band/album/song/movie/book is excellent simply because it reached the top of the appropriate chart.

Agreed.  I've tried telling my 10 and 12 year old girls the same thing!

It will change don't worry, my nine years old niece think like that also...
We were the same at that age too

You hope it will change.  Musically, I seem to work with two teenage girls, nevermind the reality that they're men in their late twenties.  Given the chance they will both play the NOW Hits CD we got in with "Call Me Maybe" all day long.  Or Kesha, Lady Gaga or Katy Perry.  So cross your fingers.
If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.
