| Posted: | | | | None of the above. And actually since my first post on this topic a short while ago, I went to the XP side & found that copy & paste doesn't work there either (Profiler version 3.5). But on the XP side I'm able to keep the window where the photo is located that I want to drap on top of DVD Profiler so that I can drag & drop. In Linux I haven't been able to figure out how to keep another window open on top of the Profiler window (so that I can see both at once.) Edit: I can now have my external harddrive (where the headshot photo is located) window open on top of Profiler but am not allowed to drag. | | | Last edited: by bbmountain |

| Posted: | | | | Sorry for anyone who is on the Wine update list - I've been updating the app info following 3.5's release and this has generated one or two (or three or four... dosen...) emails. The changes aren't that interesting, it's just that the Wine site likes to keep you VERY well informed. Stuart | | | This is a sig... ... ... yay...

Works fine for me under the XP side of my computer but haven't been able to get it to "work" in Mepis. Just tried this with the same results. I've added a new bug to the Wine project. | Posted: | | | | Just finished updating the knowledgebase / wiki / whatever article to include information on duel booting and virtualisation. Not sure it reads too well any more, but at least the info is there.

| Posted: | | | | It looks like the click operation is not being recognised in this screen. I suspect that this is the case in other screens as well (can someone tell me if you spot one). I can scroll using the mouse wheel, but not by clicking on the scroll bar. I also can't follow and of the links, although the 'got_focus' functionality seems to work.
Almost certainly something to do with the HTML side of things and it not working properly in gecko (DVD Profiler uses IE to display some screens I believe). I know that this is an area under heavy development in Wine, so it may be resolved fairly quickly. Regardless, I'll add a bug report when I find time.

| Posted: | | | | Also noticed that installing IE6 using Winetricks gets rid of the final "invalid floating point operation" error message as well as allows scrolling in the "view contributions" window. It looks like IE6 could be a vital missing part to the problem of getting DVDP working better. If you want to try, just run Winetricks as shown in the wiki page and choose IE6 from the list. Be warned thatIE6 is propriety, so the legality of doing this is questionable. Stuart | | | This is a sig... ... ... yay...

| Posted: | | | | I'm having trouble running winetricks. I saved winetricks (without an extension) to my desktop. I right-clicked and checked "is executable". When I type in ./winetricks in a command prompt I get Could not run the specified command. I also tried the chmod +x/[path]/winetricks and am not able to get that to run either. Obviously I'm doing something wrong :-) Edit: I tried the ies4linux method and this is what I got: thasan@mepis1:~/ies4linux-2.99.0.1$ ./ies4linux No user interface available. Use command-line ies4linux or install pygtk. Details: http://www.tatanka.com.br/ies4linux/page/No_GUI
Usage: ./ies4linux [OPTIONS]
This script downloads and automagically installs multiple versions of Microsoft Internet Explorer on Wine.
Without any option, IEs4Linux will: - install IE6 - install Adobe Flash 9 - create icons on Desktop and Menu - use folder: /home/thasan/.ies4linux
You can configure other things:
--install-ie55 Install IE5.5 in BASEDIR/ie55/ --install-ie5 Install IE5 in BASEDIR/ie5/
--install-corefonts Install MS Core Fonts (corefonts.sf.net)
--no-flash Don't install Adobe Flash Player 9 --no-ie6 Don't install IE 6
--no-desktop-icon Don't create an icon in Desktop --no-menu-icon Don't insert icon on Menu
--full-help Display all possible options
thasan@mepis1:~/ies4linux-2.99.0.1$
I don't know what to do from here, though I think I might be close (?) | | | Last edited: by bbmountain |

| Posted: | | | | I wouldn't necessarily suggest using ie4linux - I tried it myself as a means of testing multiple IE versions without the need for different Windows Virtual Machines (stupid Windows and their 1 IE installation only policy) and found it a bit clunky.
For the record though, you would need to install the pygtk package from whatever package manager your Linux version has to use the GUI, as it is one of the dependencies. Easily done, but that may have its own dependencies etc. The info it outputs (shown above) isn't telling you what you need to know, but a bit of digging shows that you can still work it by running
./ies4linux --no-gui
Anyway, your best bet is to get winetricks working. I'll start with the obvious. You seem to have the permissions set correctly and I'll assume that you're not running it as root (which you shouldn't), Assuming that winetricks is on your desktop, try running the following commands in turn to make sure that you're in the right directory:
cd /home/thasan/Desktop ./winetricks
If it's not something as simple as that, get back to me via PM and we'll see what we can do.

| Posted: | | | | I've just done a bit of testing with Wine release 1.1.12. There are a couple of significant enhancements in this release which have affected the DVD Profiler.
The first is that the correct icon is now used during the installation (instead of the horrible, blocky one that was used before).
The second is that there have been quite a changes to HTML rendering, including some MSHTML.dll work and switching to the new version of Gecko as the internal engine. This seems to have eliminated the final "invalid floating point operation".
Can one or two of you check this for me to confirm? All I need is for you to delete the /home/[user]/.wine directory, reinstall DVD Profiler, and see what the effect is. If it's confirmed, I'll update a couple of bugs at WineHQ and the "how to" on the DVD Profiler knowledgebase.
Thanks

| Posted: | | | | No luck here. Profiler stopped working with 1.1.12. At the end from the start process i get a task called wine-gnome-installation and it stops loading. If i manually kill this task, profiler will load up but without any html support.
