New version and still no improvements on languages/subtitles section. Soon a part of my collection contains discs which only can be described with multiple Other audio tracks and one Other subtitle although there can be them several.
As this program runs under Windows is there some way to use its localization/language list found in Control panel under Language and Regional Options?

I agree jaanus. I really appreciate all the work Ken & Co is doing to improve the DVD Profiler program to our needs. But I don't think it's a lot of work to add a few languages in a drop down list (or allow us to change and type in the language directly). I just bought another DVD with Flemish audio.

There is an ISO paper defining codes for all available languages.

Can we use that to get a full language list?

I don't understand, why won't someone of the crew give us explainations why are feature request won't be answered. If we know why we can close this topic because it has no more use then. Here a list of the requested languages to add to DVD Audio Language selection

Basque
Galician
catalonian
Valencian
Flemish
Estonian
Latvian
Lithuanian
Serbian
Thai
Swiss German
Rumantsch
Slovak
Pashtu
Bambara
Tibetan
Mongolian
Bahasa (Indonesia)
Slovenian
Vietnamese
Croatian
...

If this isn't possible please let us now something (someone of the crew, because now we got 0% replies). Maybe we can type this in in a custum field if that's possible.

I know many af the R1 users won't think/believe this isn't a priority but, there are other people that use DVD Profiler besides Americans. For us (R2/R3/R4/R5) DVD's have a lot of audio tracks. It isn't very clear to always use 'Other'

Thank you very much for the coorporation and any reply.

Maybe, you should try and be patient. Invelos is we aware of this and it is up to ken to decide what to do about it. The world is not about instant gratification, from the time users first started requesting more complete Crew data to the time it was implemented was FIVE years. Chill out.

Skip
ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!!

ISO 639 Codes? Only about 438 languages, from Abkhazian to Zuni

Yes, but the only list which is not in danger to be expanded in very short time frame...

I think "the crew" is one person - Ken Cole - maybe two, including his wife Gerri, though I don't think she's involved with coding. - and maybe they've got a lot on their plate(s) already.  After all, Ken's been working on managing the 3.1.1 Beta and the problems involved with it.

There are a lot of valid "features" requested here.  I don't think it's reasonable to expect Ken to respond to each and every one of them, regardless of how valid they may be.  He does seem to be adding new features to each new beta release, so don't lose hope.
Another Ken (not Ken Cole)

We don't ask for special "Feature", the language & subtitle sections allready exists. All we need is to enter correct data for each disc and therefore to expand existing lists.

I realized that you weren't requesting a special feature after I re-read my post.  But, after all, this was requeted in the "Feature Requests" forum, so excuse my oversimplification.

However, if it were only one language being added it would be as simple as you describe.  However, there are a whole lot of languages that people have requested (like in NBMS' post above).  What would be time consuming is deciding which languages should be added. And is the time spent in adding languages more important than rewriting code for some other function?  How many users would be affected by adding Thai, for example?

I understand you don't think many people will use that language. But the world is not only R1. I have a lot have a DVD's with 'Other' Language. In my land (Belgium - does anyone know it ?) and in The Netherlands Disney/Pixar/Animatic DVD's usually have 2 language tracks: Dutch (Netherlands) and Flemish (Belgium). I have a collection of 600DVD's, where 25DVD's have 'Other'. That is 4% of my collection that contain Flemish.

And I know that R1 users don't have this problem. Those DVD's usually contain only English and sometimes French & Spanish. I really like this program and support it. I use this section to suggest something. By the length of this topic you can see other people also want more languages. I also like complete information and not always 'Other' in my profiles.

I also now that Ken can't do everything in once and everything for everyone but if we can add them manually I don't think that will be a hard problem (just like the aspect ratio field). I also saw someone pointing to an ISO list. That's not the idea to, not every dialect/language appears on DVD. But the one that are requested here are not 100 languages. It's an list with an end.

I hope you're not mad, I don't won't to pick an anyone. I just hope you can understand my frustration. I don't want this  done tomorrow or within the next month. Just a solution for me and the other users requesting in this topic.

Kind regards from Belgium with only 10,000,000 inhabitants
