i just downloaded and used it for Windows 7 64-bit last week.  Had no issues, Didn't get any error messages, & it seemed to work fine.  Not sure what version of .NET Framework I have installed, but I believe I did update it at some point.

Hope you get it up and running soon.  From what I saw of it it does look like a really useful plugin, I just haven't had the time to play around with it yet.

I investicated this issue some more. It seems that this plugin uses .NET Framework 2.0 which isn't installed by default to Windows 8. You cannot even install this plugin without .NET Framework 2.0, so first you must enable .NET Framework 3.5 (which includes 2.0 & 3.0) from windows features.

.NET 3.5 is already installed.

How's it coming along Mark?

Once its finalized, let us know if it will require .Net 4.0, using Windows XP I have up to .Net 3.5, haven't installed 4.0 because nothing I use requires it.  I'll install if necessary, if not, I won't.

Looking forward to using Database Query again.  Hope it works OK with XP SP3, 1280x1024 resolution on a 17" standard LCD.  I'm using the Invelos Default/High Resolution layout (in case that matters).

Thanks Mark,      -kd5-

Mark, I just happened to think of this while posting in another thread about DVD Profiler only opening 3/4 screen and wondered if it might have anything to do with the way Database Query interacts with the opening of DVD Profiler:

If I'm understanding this correctly, I had the same problem some time ago with my DVD Profiler only opening 3/4 screen.  Found out it was a plugin causing the issue in my particular circumstance:

http://www.invelos.com/Forums.aspx?task=viewtopic&topicID=287317&messageID=1729922#M1729922

***The important part:
The only time I have a problem now is if I'm doing anything else on my computer while DVD Profiler is opening.  If I halt all other activity, then open DVDP, it opens full screen just fine.  But if I try to do anything else while DVDP is opening, it will inevitably open 3/4 screen, then I have to stretch the sides back out manually and select File, Exit so it will remember the size for the next time.

Don't know why but it does this every time I try to do something else on my computer, or something else is running in the background while I'm opening DVD Profiler.  I've (kind of) learned to live with it but I wish I didn't have to.      -kd5-

I'd suggest to use the "Official" links in the Download-section

@IronWaffle, Kulju, eommen:
I guess you have 'Cinematic Collection Viewer Plugin' installed.

Try this, to get Database Query working:
1. Close DVD Profiler
2. Uninstalled CCV plugin
3. Delete 'C:\Users\_USERNAME_\AppData\Local\Invelos_Software\DefaultDomain_Path_bwzoa00annodz3heyvrsayhzkmittcjl\1.0.0.0\user.config'
4. Install Database Query plugin
5. Run & close DVD Profiler
6. Reinstall CCV plugin
7. Run DVD Profiler

This worked for me. (I guess step 3 is unnecessary, but I'm not sure.)

Nothing, but it seems to prevent Database Query to store its preferences into 'C:\Users\_USERNAME_\AppData\Local\Invelos_Software\DefaultDomain_Path_bwzoa00annodz3heyvrsayhzkmittcjl\1.0.0.0\user.config'.

I don't have any clue why there's a problem using Database Query when Cinematic Collection Viewer is installed prior, but this way I can use both plugins now...

Have you informed the publisher of the Cinematic Collection Viewer Plugin about this issue?

I will try out your suggestions after a good night's sleep.

I checked, there are 2 Path... subdirectories at the indicated C:... location, though the gibberish between Path_ and the next backslash is different for each and not equal to your example. Looking into both user.config files, one is obviously for the CCV plugin, the other for the database query plugin.

Since the database query plugin is the malfunctioning plugin, I'd speculate that code assumes in whatever list it searches for the user.config location, the first find is a hit, not bothering to check for any possibility that another entry in that list is the correct one. This goes clearly wrong if the CCV plugin was installed first; the database query plugin looks into the wrong user.config for its parameters, then crashes.
As for both bbbbb's questions, if my speculation is right there is nothing wrong with the CCV plugin.

Will try the deinstallation/installation tomorrow and report afterwards.

I'd suggest to delete both folders (or maybe better move them to a backup folder). I guess you have reinstalled DVD Profiler or maybe just updated from an older version and the 'bwzoa00annodz3heyvrsayhzkmittcjl' part of the path is some kind of hash or random ID.

The problem is that both plugins try to use the same file - and if CCV is installed, it will be the first to create this file for .Net 4. And then Database Query can't access this file because of a versioning problem.
But if CCV is not installed, Database Query can create this file for .Net 2 - and this version is accessible to both plugins.

No, there's nothing wrong with CCV plugin, but it is a .NET 4 plugin while Database Query is a .NET 2 plugin. It seems this is neither a fault of Mark nor of Tom, but instead something which Microsoft hasn't expected when creating .NET. Normally each .NET program creates its own 'user.config', so there would be no problem at all - but in this case .NET is used for plugins inside of another piece of software and so there is only one file instead of multiple...

More information on this problem can be found in mediadog's Bulk Edit thread.

StaNDardD,

Followed your instructions and deinstalled and installed in the proposed sequence. Now, indeed, the database query plugin works like a charm.

Recommended!

Just a minor note for the process:
When deinstalling the CCV plugin, it removes the .mdb file where the awards data is stored. In itself OK, but since the intention is to reinstall, better make a copy in a different safe location first.
When the CCV plugin is reinstalled, set the copy in the right place, and use the 'Tools->CCVplugin->Select database...' option to select your current db.
Also, the Awards plugin window is invalidated at deinstall, so remove it. With the CCV plugin reinstalled, make the new instance visible with the menu "View->windows->Awards", then put the window in the place you want it to be.

Is this really the case?
There is nothing in my setup routine which would do this. As a matter of fact the setup has no idea, where you decide to create this database.
