As of right now I have a few things for sale, if they sell I think Ill just get that Samsung 60" LED TV Then I can just use HDMI and not worry about it :D
I was looking at the component switches but they were a little spendy for what they really do imho
anywho, thanks again
-R Just a question about the Sony 995's (or any multi disc changer) - will they not daisy chain together? |

| Posted: | | | | Quoting RobAGD: Quote: Ok been looking at receivers,
I have a few questions -
Will a receiver allow the hdmi's inputs to out to something else ? I think that is where we are not thinking along the same lines. I am use to anything being inputted going to the output be it S-vid, Component, RCA etc. I take it that is something that changed with HDMI ?
Because as of right now I am still short hook ups.
This one seems to have among the most but only 2 component.
I was looking at component switches and some of them are as expensive as receivers :/
So still looking
-Robert Yes, all modern A/V equipment is moving to the HDMI digital standard and away from analog (composite, S-video, component). If you specifically require an A/V receiver with numerous component inputs, best to look at used and/or discontinued equipment. I still don't really understand why you need 4 discrete component inputs. |

I saw the 700es listed at Best Buy and I am trying to figure out why on earth its 1900.00 A few extra audio outs and 5 year warranty dont explain that price.
-Robert Audio Authority 4 to 1 component switcher - not cheap at $329.00 - they used to make another, cheaper model, may be worth looking for on the used market http://www.audioauthority.com/product_details/1154B |

| Posted: | | | | One option that I sometimes use is to wire multiple outputs. For example, the Sony CX995V has all three outputs: HDMI, Component and Composite / S-Video. It drives them all concurrently. So, wire them all to your receiver, in all three ways (lots o' wires!) Then: - Use the HDMI for the projector - Use the Component out for the TV - Use S-Video out for whatever.
Just choose a receiver that has enough of each type of input. Alternatively, you can hook one of the CX995V's directly to the TV. You can use the same trick for audio, because the CX995V has analog out, digital out and COAX out, and drives them all concurerntly. The Cx995V that goes directly to the TV can still have its audio wired to the same input as one of the other machines. The receiver will play whichever is active, and better receivers allow you to "assign" inputs for even more flexibility.
Remember, you will not get the same quality of video and audio with Composite S-video as with HDMI and Component, but the CX995V does about as good a job as any - a nice machine indeed.
Somebody asked about daisy chaining of CX995V. Answer is no, and you can't generalize to any changer. They are all potentially different. | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. Advanced plugins available here. Hey, new product!!! BDPFrog. | | | Last edited: by mediadogg |

| Posted: | | | | anyone play with the Global Cache WiFi2IR bits ?
Seems kinda interesting way to control stuff from a Wifi Device.
Mediadogg - I'll be sending you an email in the next day or so about the ptouch plug in and some questions on the AV control software.

-R Ok, looking forward to it. I finally got a printer. I need it for some other stuff, so I dipped into my donations fund and bought one. I will be working on a major upgrade to the P-Touch plugin over the next couple of weeks, taking advantage of the new SDK and Editor 5.0. On the automation end, I got so confused by all the solutions and trying to figure out how to make it work with DVD Profiler, that I just started building my own. Now I have a powerful system that I know how to use. I have a Droid-X phone, so you can guess what the next steps will be. But I hardly ever touch my phyisical remotes anymore. Rather than trying to cobble together 5 or 6 different programs, everything is built-in: my own leaning code, my own graphical editor, my own communications, my own IR codes and device support are all built-in, with easy hooks for you to add your own. Sorry, for tooting my horn a bit, but I'm kinda proud of it, and I worked so hard to build it ... | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. Advanced plugins available here. | Posted: | | | | Yea the remote thing is getting stupid TV, DVD, OTA Tuner, 995, 995, 955, Radio, and soon BR player.
I was hoping that the WiFi2IR treated each IR out as an unique point or address, that would get me by the 3 unit 995 and remote issue.
I look forward to seeing how the new control software works out.

-Robert What you're going to love is that support for CX995V is built-in, because I presonally own those devices. For example, to press the play button to the code 1 machine, you send the command: "[DEV] cx995v1 [KEY] play" There are precoded macros for selecting a playing a DVD from scratch that turns on the unit, and crawls thru the menus with the correct delays. And if that doesn't work for you, you can actually edit the low-level code and change the delays, the repeat count for the IR, the actual IR commands, etc. And there is a pretty picture of the remote control that I took with my own camera, with pre-coded invisible hotspots. You press the buttons on the picture with the mouse exactly like you would press the actual remote. Cool. And the codes I use have been tested over two years in LoadDVD, and people seem to be happy. Now if that were not enough, you can send those commands from any software that can talk over TCP/IP. Given the IP address and port of the a/v server code, you can send the command I just gave you from any PC, iPOD, Droid, Netbook, anything. You can make an icon in DVD Profiler that does it (MyTools), or you can make a profile that looks like a button with automation commands in the Location field, and LoadDVD will send the IR codes to your device. Sweeeeet ... | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. Advanced plugins available here. Hey, new product!!! BDPFrog. | | | Last edited: by mediadogg |

| Posted: | | | | Huh? OMG you already bought it! (avbundle1 - includes LoadDVD Pro and a/v DashBoard). Since then, I also released a WHS version. Both LoadDVD and LoadDVD Pro support cx995v right out of the box. Just put cx995v1 in the Location field, put the slot number in the Slot field, and make sure the IR blaster can see the box. Click on the LoadDVD disc icon and your disc will play. Or you can use the automation macro [SonyOff] in the Location field (if you expect the changer to be off), and it will do the rest. The changer slot# still needs to be in the Slot field. See here. Documentation here. Forum support here. Except: a/v Engine for WHS will be supported at wegotserved. | | | Thanks for your support. | Posted: | | | | Ok FINALLY got the TV from my buddy.
Out side of some cosmetic issues this thing still has a great picture and great sound.
Need to raise it up a bit, as it sits a bit low for viewing from my couch.
Also picked up a Panasonic BD65 BluRay player..... Wasn't planning on that but meh it was too good of a deal to pass on and for what I want it will work just fine as long as it dosen't go tits up.
So now I have the 3 995's and the BR player, and I found for rather inexpensive Component 4 port switch so the 3 995's are going though this, the BR to the 2nd Component on the TV and the OTA to other composite input.
So for now its all working, I got decent cables and as of right now I think I am mostly done (Thank God)
Still thinking about a receiver & speaker set up, but in all honesty I can't push a lot of volume in the condo and I think it would be kind of a waste for me. But we shall see....
Thanks for all the ideas guys, next project is getting remotes all sorted out.
