Yes, the XML seems a bit odd at this point, but I don't know enough about 'well formed XML' to really have an opinion on this matter. Is is possible for me to test a fix for this by switching my system to German? | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. Advanced plugins available here. Hey, new product!!! Anyway, I'll start working on that for the next update. | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. Advanced plugins available here. Hey, new product!!! BulkEdit V2.10 Available - Runs on DVDP 3.6 ONLY
Release Notes - Somewhat faster operation - Support for editing new fields Count As, Custom Collection Categories, Custom Media Types, Exclusions - Support for new Ratings structure - Support for new DVDP XML format - XML Import now supports Cast/Crew import (Edit not supported - see other tools) - new Retailers, Users, Studios, MediaCompanies are defined automatically by DVDP on import. You may need to edit them later to add details. - Custom Collection Categories appear dynamically on the Load menu
Limitations / Known Issues (Edited) - CSV import temporarily disabled: not yet complete. - Import into Custom Categories requires that the Custom Categories be pre-defined - Custom roles cannot be imported - XML import does not correctly convert currency values on some non-US systems (see Mithi's posts)
As usual, you must backup your database before using this plugin, and you should uninstall any prior versions before installing V2.00. | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. Advanced plugins available here. Hey, new product!!! BDPFrog. | | | Last edited: by mediadogg |

| Posted: | | | | You're welcome deejay. Also public thanks to FredLooks who pointed out a couple of things I had mssed in the XML, so I can remove a couple of those limitations! | Posted: | | | | Can this plugin be used as a data scrubber to erase whole sections of a group of profiles? I would love to be able to get rid of the useless data that's homesteading on my hard drive.
I couldn't find any info in this thread concerning this. | | | Last edited: by Antares |

I couldn't find any info in this thread concerning this. Not sure. Can you give a couple of specific examples? I don't care about Easter Eggs info, subtitle & audio info and feature(s) info and would like to erase all of that info from all of my profiles. Then I could lock those fields and never have to worry about it again. All this info, only makes my backup file larger and I never view it. |

Ok, based on my understanding of the way the DVDP iworks, you will save little or nothing by eliminating the data in subtitles, audio and features categories. That leaves Easter Eggs and Other Features, which are text fields. They could both be readily added to BulkEdit. But before I do that work, here are a couple of other ideas to try first: (1) Due to compression/encryption, I'd be willing to bet that small text fields virtually dissappear. To test this, perhaps you could create two blank databases. In each one, restore a previously backed up set of say, 10 profiles - selected to be full of Easter Eggs and Other Features. Then delete the unwanted data from one of the databases, and compare the sizes of the run-time and backups. I would be interested to know the results. (2) You might also try creating a blank manual profile, and use the DVDP profile copy / paste of selected fields to basically wipe out the fields you don't want. Not sure if this works, but give it a try. | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. Advanced plugins available here. Hey, new product!!! BDPFrog. | | | Last edited: by mediadogg |

As mediadogg suggested: copy&paste is your friend. Modify one profile to your liking, then goto menue: DVD -> CopyNow press Ctrl-A to flag all profiles, goto Collection -> Flagged -> Paste and paste away. But I too doubt that this will save any note-worthy amount of space. Just mocked up 10 profiles with a 2000 character easter egg and the backup of the naked profiles shrinks from 11,7kb to 9,7kb. So even in an unrealistic test-case (much to much easter-eg info) the size-reduction is negligible in the age of tera-byte HDDs. cya, Mithi | | | Mithi's little XSLT tinkering - the power of XML --- DVD-Profiler Mini-Wiki |

| Posted: | | | | for documenting purposes:
If you don't have a single collection.xml but single-profile XMLs, you still can import them with a bit of preparation: Go to a command-line (or "DOS-window"), switch to the directory where the XMLs reside type: copy /A *.xml collection.xml
Open this collection.xml in an editor. Usually the structure of the collection.xml is: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="windows-1252"?> <!--DVD Profiler Collection Export--> <Collection> <DVD> </DVD> ... <DVD> </DVD> </Collection> You'll notice that the opening and closing "Collection" tags are missing. Simply add them at the third and the last line of the file. Now there is still the problem of the multiple <?xml version="1.0" encoding="windows-1252"?> lines, which mustn't be present more than one time per file. Delete those with find&replace (leaving the replace-filed blank) and save.
Now the collection.xml can be imported into DVD Profiler with BulkEdit. | | | Mithi's little XSLT tinkering - the power of XML --- DVD-Profiler Mini-Wiki |

Next time I make an update (I still owe you the currency fix), I'll do something to make this scenario work better. For example, I can easily put in code to ignore the extra version declarations (maybe that works now - Edit: no it doesn't), and I could even allow selection of multiple xml files and build the collection myself. Just have to think about how to handle duplicate entries - probably first come, first served. | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. Advanced plugins available here.
