Either Chris Nolan or Joss Wheadon although the latter will be busy with Avengers 2 I reckon

Good choice, IMO

I really don't know about this one. This is Disney, "big film" special effects extends to things like making puppies look like they are speaking English.  I too think a less-known director would be a safer bet.

I don't care.  I don't think the movies need to be made.  They aren't necessary.

Yes they are.

On March 6, 1978 I was promised a 12 part movie serial so, while you may not care, I want what I was promised.

I think all of you are forgetting one thing.  Disney purchased Lucas and the Star Wars rights.  Unless Disney moves Star Wars under one of their other banners expect more "Kid Friendly" films."  In other words more Jar Jar Binks and Ewok type characters.  I have loved Star Wars my entire life.  It was the first movie I EVER saw in a theater.  Episode I was VERY disappointing EP2 was actually pretty good.  Three was very dark and showed Vader being purged of the last of his emotions and burying his good.  I have not seen the Bluray renditions because I could not stomach all of the new changes added such as Vader yelling no at the end of Jedi when he rescues Luke.  We need to all remember Han shot first, little cannibalistic bears would not beat a legion of the emperor's best men and the chances of successfully navigating an asteroid field are approximately 3,720 to 1.

In that case... Charles Martin Smith (director of Air Bud )

Disney: World-renowned for their special efects, such as making animals speak.

Me. I'm unemployed, need a job, and couldn't do any worse than Lucas.

I have no problem with Jar Jar or Ewok type characters.  With the exception of the midi-chlorians and the age difference between Anakin and Padme, I enjoyed all three prequels.  While I don't like the idea of Lucas messing with his films, none of the changes ruined the series for me.  I do remember that Han shot first, cannibalistic bears did beat a legion of the emperor's best men and never tell me the odds.

The changes have actually saved me quite a bit of money.

Where did this come from...? All I remember is 9, but I have never heard of 12 myself. George of course would disagree with both of us, his memory only suggests a hexalogy...

I heard of a 9 part series i nthe late 70's  but never 12 .. and memory serves me  in the late mid 80's the idea was scrapped to just 6 ...

I'm sure the series for 7 thru 9 will not be in Lucas's favor .. as he is out now- he sold off the franchise . He may not have total control over the writing .. and the Disney Franchise will definitely  cater to the younger preteens  .. Can you say John Carter  ?
In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. Now the World is weird and People take Prozac to make it Normal.

It will be a sad loss in my opinion.  I just hope they don't have pink stormtroopers a Justin Bieber music soundtrack or a snappy dance number.  Plus with all of the Expanded Universe source material where do you start.  Timothy Zahn had some great books, as did Paul Davids and Hollace Davids, Ann C. Crispin and K.W. Jeter just to name a few

George is not out and Disney would be foolish to try. I suspect he will serve in a very similar capacity to what the gbotg did with star trek. Where do you start, somewhere after episode 6. As for the material that has been written, it is only valid unless George decides otherwise, he controls his universe, not any author, even if writing with his approval.

No, but I can say "Ewoks", "Jar-Jar", and "Annie".
