| Posted: | | | | The problem with the quotes is that no-one uses quotes for emphasis. In plain text emails you would use slashes for /italics/ and asterisks for *bold*. |

Problem is of course that Notes are personal and overview is not, so the program has to be able to disregard all html codes if the user chooses not to use HTML for Overview. | | | Greetz, Marc Castermans

Not at all. HTML is much more than bold and italic. People would get fancy ideas how to simulate the back cover and would try to integrate those ideas into the online database. We already have the graphical representation of the back cover. Therefore the overview should be kept as simple plain text. Let's get rid of those imaginary quotes and do not simulate the ALL CAPS eye catcher the marketing and graphic people have used to increase DVD sales. |

| Posted: | | | | I am thinking that maybe the best thing to do here is to just use regular text. Afterall, who cares if the words are bold or italic? Is that REALLY gonna affect the way you read the overview? Most times I read the overview (even when purchasing) so I have an idea as to what the movie is about.
It would be so much easier to to compile the overview without having to take so much time to see if you remembered to put a (') around the word to show what it is.
Also might make it easier for voting as the only things you would really have to look for would be spelling, whether a word should be in capital letters or in parentheses.

I don't think HTML is a good idea because people would start adding images, backgrounds, tables, links etc. I think the best and simplest solution would be to use an RTF TextBox (RTF=Rich Text Format) instead of the current regular TextBox. RTF allows for basic text formatting such as fonts, colors etc. I'm of course assuming that Delphi and DBIsam both support RTF fields which may not be the case, I've never worked with either of them. | | | My 4x4 Club: Club FJ Cruiser Quebec DVDP Français: Forum DVD Profiler Français DVDCOL:DVD Collectors Online Video: LG RU-42PX10 Audio: Sony DreamSystem DAVFX100W | | | Last edited: by Touti |

| Posted: | | | | I may be imagining things, but I seem to recall Ken once upon a time expressing a lack of desire to do HTML for overviews because people would start adding links and pictures, greatly increasing the size of the database and opening the door for malicious conduct---the last thing we need is Trinitron and his ilk with the ability to seed things into overviews. | | | "This movie has warped my fragile little mind." |
