Here's a forum post (a year old) with someone with the same monitor with the same problem. If Dell is advertisting this monitor as HDCP compliant then they have a serious issue on their hands. -edit- Scroll down for the post made by "Branko" -edit 2- Take it back, it may be an issue with Dual-link on the video card itself. | Posted: | | | | Ah, good info, thanks! So if I was to reconnect my 20" monitor as well and connect it via single-link, I could expect that to work? |

Do the players not work when you attempt to play movies? I was under the impression that none of this HDCP stuff had been enabled by any of the Studios just yet so you should be able to play the movies without any downgrading of the picture quality. | | | "Rules are for the obedience of fools and the guidance of wise men" - Douglas Bader "A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools." - Douglas Adams |

Near as I can tell it's ideal, as long as you only want to play ten seconds at a time. However, I've just had a go with AnyDVD HD which seems to solve it all! It claims to allow the user to "watch movies over digital display connection, without HDCP compliant graphics card and HDCP compliant display", and while I'll want to do some testing using discs from different studios, it seems to deliver! Not the ideal solution, but even with the cost (I never feel all that happy with pirating software) it's more convenient than running multiple monitors or switching between them. It's kind of cheating the whole system, but screw it, it's not like these hardware folks have left many options open! |
