I'd like to see a compulsory spell check for the overview before you save a profile.

I've been known to type it out in Word,, run spell check,, double check all comas and Capitals and then paste it back into Overview..

... And remember: if an overview contains a spelling mistake on the box, it should be there in the profile as well, as per rules.
.

Yes, and there's a good reason for it.  Far too many people were making changes based on their own personal preferences, instead of entering just what was there.  Sure, it would be nice to correct spelling or grammar errors, etc., but we can't rely on people just doing that.  So, it HAS to done the way the rules say to prevent the abuses.

Has there been a problem with people applying personal preferences when correcting spelling mistakes?

That didn't answer my question. And it's not a big problem.
And notice that I did neither oppose nor advocate correcting spellings. I just questioned Rifters argument against it.

You know this thread reminds me of a funny incident I personally witnessed.., Living  here in Canada with both Languages being recognised as part of the country heritage and all that., We have to have both languages on everything including Packaged Bread to the New automobile manual etc..

Imagine my laughter when I saw a sign near the Vancouver International Airport years ago that directed your attention to what to do to cross the street.
The sign had two sentences on it, one in English and the other in French ( not that's not European French or 'Parisienne' but Quebec French. The sign said:

Press the Button
Pressez Le Button

I think they had someone who doesn't speak a lick of French who made that sign..
