| Posted: | | | | This is an Adult Playroom. My sister refers to it as a Screening Room, I just think of it as my Home Theater. The room is 16x32 with 10 foot ceilings. The back is a wet bar. The side walls have acoustical treatments and the whole house carries a Native American theme (I collect Native American art). The screen is 120" wide (16x9) driven by a BenQ 720P projector soon to become a JVC RS2 (when it comes out) at 1080p. The projector gets its signal from a DVDO VP50 PRO which handles all video switching and processing. It is fed by two cable DVR's, two Sony DVD changers, a PS2 and, a Roku Photobridge. The room is also a music room and the audio chain consists of a Lexicon MC-1, feeding an Outlaw 7 Channel amp driving seven B&W signature Seven speakers. There is also a Velodyne 12" sub woofer. The two main music only sources are a Slim Devices Transporter and a Polk RXT12 XM Radio receiver. Music can be piped to the whole house which is treated as a separate zone. CD's are stored as flac files if encoded (DTS or DD) and mpg if two channel stereo. The entire room is controlled by a laptop PC (left lower bottom shelf) driving IR and RS232. The PC gets its commands from a Pronto PRO remote over wireless TCPIP (Wi-Fi). The entire DVD library can be viewed on the big screen 40 titles at a time in 36 point type. A single button press on the Pronto will either display all the DVD Profiler data about the movie (well not really all, just what interests me) or play the DVD. I built all the cabinetry, and did all the installation with the approval of my late wife (You should see the kitchen; she believed in fiscal parity). When the theater starts up it plays "Hooray for Hollywood" as things warm up, dims the lights and shows the default source (a DVR on the Discovery HD channel). | Posted: | | | | Sorry I don't have any pictures to post but I can list my equipment.
Draper 120-inch diagonal electric screen Panasonic AX100U projector Sherwood P-965 Pre/Pro Tuner Sherwood A-965 1095 Watt amplifier DVDO HD+ scaler Three RBH Sound T-1 speakers (front center, front left, and front right) RBH Sound 1212SE Subwoofer w/400 watt built-in amplifier Four RBH Sound 66-SE Dipole/Bipole Surround speakers JVC DVD player (about to be replaced) Custom built HTPC running Windows MCE Westinghouse 22-inch LCD monitor Samsung ATSC terrestrial receiver HDMI switcher (3 sources) Theatermaster 950 remote control
I'm proudest of the audio portion of my system. My Sherwood system is POWERFUL and handles all the latest Hollywood sound schemes (Dolby, DTS, NEO, etc.). My RBH Sound speakers are simply incredible. As an audio/video professional, I can honestly say that my speakers out-perform any speaker system in the 10-20K range. Clarity, soungstage, and realism are without equal in their price range. They make Bose sound like toy speakers.
