Dogma and Gattaca for Blu-ray on March 11th

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has announced that they will bring 'Dogma' and 'Gattaca' to Blu-ray on March 11th. Both will be present in 2.40 1080p. 'Dogma' will feature cast and crew commentary, technical commentary, 100 min of deleted scenes (with intros), and the "Jay and Silent Bob's Secret Stash" commercial. 'Gattaca' will feature a blooper real, deleted scenes, Substance test outtake, and numerous featurettes.

Dogma - One of the most talked-about movies of the year is also one of the funniest! In this hilarious comic fantasy from writer/director Kevin Smith (Clerks, Chasing Amy) two banished angels (Ben Affleck and Matt Damon) find a loophole that would get them back into Heaven. The only snag? They'll be destroying existence in the process. In an effort to stop them, The overworked Voice of God (Alan Rickman)taps cynical mortal Bethany (Linda Fiorentino) to save the world by preventing the angels from reaching their unholy destination: New Jersey! Throw in two unlikely prophets named Jay and Silent Bob (Jason Mewes and Kevin Smith), the quick-witted yet little-known thirteenth apostle (Chris Rock) and a sexy, former muse with a case of writer's block (Selma Hayek) and you've got an hysterical and thrilling race against time packed with an all-star cast.

Gattaca - Ethan Hawke, Uma Thurman, Alan Arkin and Jude Law star in this engrossing sci-fi thriller about an all-too-human man who dares to defy a system obsessed with genetic perfection. Hawke stars as Vincent, an "In-Valid" who assumes the identity of a member of the genetic elite to pursue his goal of traveling into space with the Gattaca Aerospace Corporation. However, a week before his mission, a murder marks Vincent as a suspect. With a relentless investigator in pursuit and the colleague he has fallen in love with beginning to suspect his deception, Vincent's dreams steadily unravel.

Over at Stegen Electronics, a multi-region BDP-S300 will demand €599 ($878), while the modded BDP-S500 rings up at €899 ($1,318), and until someone bites the bullet and confirms that these things actually do what they claim to, we'd recommend holding off.

At those prices? No thanks.

Re: Gattaca
Extras include the original 1997 featurette, deleted scenes, a blooper reel and still galleries.

I'm glad that extra 18 month wait paid off...

Already on sale here since November. This is not news.

Ah wait, all hail region coding. You are referring to region A, I suppose...

Anyways, everybody a highly defined 2008, be that HD or BR...

Don't forget the next update you need to do of the software for the player.  Ops, your Region coding is back enabled once again and all the money you paid extra has just gone down the drain.  Thank goodness HD DVD decided not to do that garbage.  It's pretty pointless these days to keep on doing it.

For my friends up north in Canada...

Toshiba's HD-D3 going for $100 on Boxing Day

We've already seen some fairly notable deals for a variety of Toshiba HD DVD players in America and Australia, so it's only fair that the Canucks get a bargain of their own, right? Starting at 6:00AM on Boxing Day (that's December 26th for us Americans), Futureshop will be offering up the HD-D3 for a mere $99.99 while supplies last. It needn't be said, but we'd recommend queuing up a few hours in advance if you're dead set on securing one.

Couldn't resist a response so late in the week on this post,, but word is that each of the Future shop stores only had twenty units on hand for this sale...

Oy vey...

Fox Home Entertainment have announced the US Region A Blu-ray Disc release of six catalog titles over January, February and March 2008.

"MPEG-2, minimal extras, $40 SRP... nice to know nothing changes with Fox."

Joy... MPEG-2 makes a return right after the WB HD DVD announcement.

Someone mentioned in the other thread that it is being reported elsewhere the MPEG-2 is a typo and it's supposed to be MPEG-4.
