Apparently I missed that news...Damn. Seriously, is that right? I think the jury is stil out on some of those numbers. I have not seen the Nielsen Video Scan charts in two weeks. I agree that both seem way too low. Maybe it's an indication that people preferred the box set configurations to the single releaaes of both titles. | | | Signature banned: Reason out of date... |

I guess this is more proof that that is true.
BTW, called about T3 and they are not "aware of the replacement program".... LOL Maybe someone should make a thread and list all of these "Release Snafu" discs and ask Ken to give it a sticky. With the Hi Def formats and the standard DVD releases combined, there are enough to warrant the sticky. | | | Dan | | | Last edited: by Dan W |

Toshiba's HD-D3 going for $100 on Boxing Day
We've already seen some fairly notable deals for a variety of Toshiba HD DVD players in America and Australia, so it's only fair that the Canucks get a bargain of their own, right? Starting at 6:00AM on Boxing Day (that's December 26th for us Americans), Futureshop will be offering up the HD-D3 for a mere $99.99 while supplies last. It needn't be said, but we'd recommend queuing up a few hours in advance if you're dead set on securing one.

| Posted: | | | | I saw that this morning, I have already told my brother to set his alarm. He is buying a second HDTV this boxing day already for the basement home theatre so he will need an upconverting DVD player anyway. For the same price now he can get one that plays HD DVDs too. AND it comes with two free movies so it is really only about $50. |

| Posted: | | | | In an early alert to retailers, Disney has revealed plans to bring a trio of catalog titles to Blu-ray this April.
Due on April 1st are three titles from the studio's Touchstone label -- the Viggo Mortensen-starrer 'Hidalgo,' the Bruce Willis/M. Night Shyamalan thriller 'Unbreakable' and the ensemble comedy 'Coyote Ugly.'
Disney has yet to issue an official press release for the trio of titles, so we'll have to wait a bit for tech specs and supplement details. (All three movies have seen Special Edition releases on standard DVD, so we can only hope for the same from these Blu-ray releases.)
The studio has set a low $29.99 suggested list price for each of the three titles.

| Posted: | | | | The numbers for week ending Dec. 16th from Engadget HD: Quote: Better late then never right? It better be, because Home Media Magazine took last week off, so this week's edition includes the Nielsen VideoScan numbers from the week ending December 16th 2007. Not sure if they plan to catch up somehow -- eventually skip a week -- but either way we'll bring 'em to you when they're published. As previously reported by a AVS member -- Blu-ray outsold HD DVD by 61:39 (1.56:1) despite the fact that the HD DVD exclusive The Bourne Ultimatum outsold Blu-ray's best title by almost 2:1. Part of the reason for blu's success this week was some old favorites like 300 and Spider-Man 3, but judging by the new legs on Casino Royale, we'd say a BOGO sale contributed to the success as well. Looking forward to next week last week, the same trusty source has beat HMM to the punch and let us know that once again the ratio was 61:39, and although Amazon is included in these numbers, the HD DVD BOGO sale wasn't in progress yet. But as successful as the sale appears to be, we really doubt it'll be enough to give red it's first winning week of the year. Click here | | | Signature banned: Reason out of date... |

| Posted: | | | | Quoting pplchamp: Quote: Prediction: Blu-ray blows away HD DVD Dec 21, 2007
2008 is the year Sony's Howard Stringer and the Blu-ray Disc will slay HD DVD as effectively as Joseph Turok dispenses with dinosaurs. If you're unfamiliar with that metaphor, you probably don't have a PlayStation 3.
Wow, time warp. I don't have a play Station 3 but I'm guessing it's a game of dino destruction. But, I do remember (50 years ago) a comic book series I collected titled "Turok, Son of Stone". Wish I still had them. |

| Posted: | | | | Fox Sets Specs, New Date for 'ID4' Blu-ray Following a earlier street date delay, the aliens of 'Independence Day' will finally invade Blu-ray this March.
As previously reported, Fox postponed the originally-planned December 4 Blu-ray release of mammoth blockbuster only days before it was due to hit stores, citing last-minute quality-control issues. Now the studio has confirmed a new date for the highly-anticipated release, which will hit Blu-ray at last on March 11, 2008.
Fox has also issued final specs for 'ID4,' which include 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 video, a DTS-HD Lossless Master Audio 5.1 Surround track, plus Dolby Digital dubs and subtitle options in French and Spanish.
Fans hoping for a high-def replica of the same extensive extras found on the two-disc DVD version of the alien blockbuster will be disappointed, as the studio will be offering only a limited numbers of extras on the Blu-ray. Included on the set will be two audio commentaries with the filmmakers, plus a suite of four theatrical trailers. All of the previous edition's other video-based materials have not been ported over.
Exclusive to the Blu-ray, however, will be the "Alien Intercept" BD-Java interactive game, a subtitle fact track, personal scene selections, a content index, and D-Box enhancement.
Retail remains at the previously-announced $39.98.

In an early alert to retailers, DreamWorks has set a March arrival for the animated Jerry Seinfeld blockbuster 'Bee Movie.'
Scoring nearly $125 million at the domestic box office and bolstered by an all-star voice cast that includes Seinfeld, Renee Zellweger, Matthew Broderick and Oprah Winfrey, 'Bee Movie' is likely to be just as big of a hit on the small screen when it arrives on HD DVD March 11, 2008, day-and-date with the standard DVD.
Due to the early nature of this news, DreamWorks specs and supplemental details for 'Bee Movie' have yet to be announced, but we'll keep you posted.
DreamWorks has set a $39.98 list price for the HD DVD.
