Maybe it's a download option. Anyway, this box never looked that interesting to me. I'm glad now I didn't pre-order. Hopefully Red October will be available separately, it's the only one I really care for, unless they've messed up the transfer as well... | | | First registered: February 15, 2002 | | | Last edited: by Nexus the Sixth |

| Posted: | | | | I live in a small town and yesterday I noticed my local Wal-Mart is now carrying Blu-ray and HD DVD titles in the store. If this is happening in all Wal-Marts and if Wal-Mart would start selling a cheap player, either format, this war would end quickly. It would be over even faster if titles were sold for 23.95 like a regular DVD 2-Disc set instead of 29.95. It is hard to pay 29.95 for a HD version when you can get the same movie on regular DVD for 19.95 and have your player upconvert it. |

| Posted: | | | | I wandered into Future Shop today and discovered there were selling the Sony Blue Ray player for just $399 CDN (about $408 USD ). I don't know if it was just that one location, but that is $50 less than it is listed online. I think this is a one day only special, so if you are in the market it may not be this cheap again until Xmas...or even Boxing Day. http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?sku_id=0665000FS10090334&catid=25323&logon=&langid=EN Another couple hundred cheaper and I am gonna seriously have to look at adding one to my already overpacked Entertainment centre. |

| Posted: | | | | Yeah well, Sony and Disney are punks...What was with this buy one get one crap this week? Yes ASC, Blu-ray rules which is why they are currently giving away movies in an effort to mask the sales of Transformers. Come on! I have a great business idea...Let's give away product we're not profitable on anyway...Seems like someone might be getting nervous. |

| Posted: | | | | Paramount Recalls 'Jack Ryan' HD DVDQuote: Following reports of a packaging error, Paramount has issued a recall of its forthcoming HD DVD release of 'The Jack Ryan Collection.'
As we first reported Tuesday, early copies of the highly anticipated release found their way into consumers hands earlier this week, but fans who were initially delighted to snap up a sneak peek began noticing something strange as they dived into the four-disc set.
Despite the "Special Collector's Edition" label clearly stamped across the front cover of each disc in the set, and a list of bonus features promoted on the box art (including audio commentaries, featurettes, and more), no one was able to find the advertised supplementary material on any of the actual discs.
As these reports began to surface, fan reaction was swift and predominantly negative in our forums area, with most wondering how a mistake like this could slip by the studio.
Today, Paramount has issued a street delay for the disc, and is asking all retailers return their stock to the distributor. No new street date has been announced, and at press time it wasn't clear whether the studio is planning to ultimately release the existing barebones discs with new corrected packaging, or with new feature-packed discs. We'll let you know as more information comes in. More at High-Def Digest. | | | First registered: February 15, 2002 | | | Last edited: by Nexus the Sixth |

| Posted: | | | | Here's the recall note.... Quote: "Please be advised that there are typographical errors on the packaging for the Jack Ryan Special Collector's Edition HD-DVD. The packaging inadvertently notes special features that are not on the HD-DVD.
As a result, this product is being recalled and street date is being delayed. We ask that you do not sell or rent this product to consumers and that you stop shipments to additional destinations. A Paramount Home Entertainment Representative will contact you with an RA number to facilitate sending the product back to Paramount Home Entertainment's manufacturing facility. Returned product should include any unit previously shipped to retailers or other destinations as well as your on-hand inventory. We will provide further information on the availability of new product shortly." | | | Signature banned: Reason out of date... |

Since they say the packaging has "typographical errors", I'd guess that they plan to fix the packaging rather than the discs. I would imagine that would be the cheaper route to take as well. | | | Get the CSVExport and Database Query plug-ins here. Create fake parent profiles to organize your collection. |
