| Posted: | | | | I've taken the time to add color to the profiles in my database that is missing this info. So far I've updated about 250 of them. When the profiles are approved and released, and I refresh my profiles, ALL my changed profiles are in the list and I have to go through them one by one to check if there is any unwanted changes there. Naturally, this takes a lot of time to do.
It feels moronically irrational from the software to not actually change the data and skip these updates.
Why does the software do this?
I have like 600 left to contribute, but I'm really procrastinating it, because of the extra work I know is behind the corner. |

| Posted: | | | | I just find it odd that Invelos couldn't do something like update the color field for every entry which has a movie production year post XXXX (1970, 1980, 2000 whatever). True there might be a couple that should not be marked color but it would save people having to update each profile.
(I realise this doesn't solve your profile refresh problem) |

(I realise this doesn't solve your profile refresh problem) Ken actually considered and originally planned it to be that way... basically making the default color. But changed his mind on the subject. What I do for this is when updating click on skip all unchanged... this skips the updates that I did myself. | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | I do not remember where, but in the beginning of Color, I updated everything to color in one fell swoop. Now the only changes for this are the ones that need to be switched to one of the other selections. Most of them have been done by this point. Maybe someone else could shed some light on where to find this, if it's still available. | | | Marty - Registered July 10, 2004, User since 2002. |

| Posted: | | | | I don't have my PC at the moment to verify, but could'nt copy / paste do this en masse? In terms of refresh, I would collection > flagged to select only the ones I wanted. Does that work for you? | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. Advanced plugins available here. Hey, new product!!! BDPFrog. | | | Last edited: by mediadogg |

| Posted: | | | | Methinks he's talking about the "update profiles from Invelos" process where it shows you all updates whether or not you already incorporated that particular change | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

True there might be a couple that should not be marked color but it would save people having to update each profile. As i recall when the Beta for 3.8 was released there was discussion (Beta forum?) of whether to auto-fill all profiles with something (Color?) but the consensus was it was better to have No color data than have Wrong color data auto-inserted. I was able to add the correct color field data locally en masse (as mediadogg describes above) after validating a number of the discs i owned. I then submitted hundreds of those to the main database, which was admittedly the tedious part. The important thing is the data i have and uploaded, and downloaded from others is correct. | | | Bad movie? You're soaking in it! |

| Posted: | | | | It's when I click "Refresh Updated Profiles" that also my contributed and released changes show in the dialog. I assume that if I'd choose "skip unchanged", it would still include the erroneous changes that I don't want. I usually submit over 200 titles per time, and it takes about a day or two until they're released and by that time, I might have forgotten exactly which titles I submitted. And I can't be sure that some of those don't include other changes as well by others. So I have to go through every title anyway.
You try remembering 200+ titles for several days...
Also, I notice that when I click the entry, it always says that the in the local database the box for color hasn't been ticked, even if I did it myself (duh). Like this: Current profile: Color:
New profile: Color: color
So I don't understand why the program doesn't get that I added this in my database but that when it compares it to the online one, the change is no longer in my local? Seems like very unintelligent programming and communication. IMO invelos should skip all my contributions all in all, since most probably it should be the same. But it evidently downloads from the online DB and compares that data to my local data. And quite often there will be differences and inaccuracies in the online one. Things I will fix further down the road. It's not like I feel like fixing each profile 100% all the time. |

It's not like I feel like fixing each profile 100% all the time. But you feel an urgency to "fix" the color? I mean, if you have updated your profile, there's really nothing that forces you to submit it to the online also, especially 200 at a time if you feel that it burdens you so much... | | | First registered: February 15, 2002 | | | Last edited: by Nexus the Sixth |

I often get the feeling that you're on my back. I'm getting tired of your arrogant attitude towards me. If you have nothing nice to say—don't say it at all! How I'm contributing to the database is frankly not your problem. I feel I have limited time and energy for it, so I'm doing it my way. And any improvement to the DB is welcome. And I'm fixing the color first, because those are approved immediately. And I can take notes of what other differences there are when I contribute. I'm taking it one thing at a time, but for other changes I will try to correct as much I can. But for color I only change that now. There are no rules that say you must complete a whole profile when you contribute. Or change as much as possible. Either way, improve on your attitude. I have no patience for your current one. |

| Posted: | | | | If you lock that data section after you change it, wouldn't that take care of the problem?
Once you do that, you don't even need to see irrelevant changes others make to the database:
Tools > Options > Defaults > Tick the box to Hide updates for locked profiles/images. |

Tools > Options > Defaults > Tick the box to Hide updates for locked profiles/images. Mika wants to get the other updates. If you do that you don't get any updates applied. It should be possible for Ken to have programmed the updates so it ignores (and doesn't prompt for) your own submitted changes | | | Paul |

Mika wants to get the other updates. Maybe this is a better solution: When you edit a contribution, on the bottom left corner is an "Automatically lock all changed items" that can be ticked. This way only the data that one changes locally will be locked. | | | Last edited: by Kathy |

This way only the data that one changes locally will be locked. How does that help when you want to check the updates before you apply them? For instance, I always preview all the changes and only apply ones that I want. | | | Paul |

| Posted: | | | | I've run out of ideas - I can't think of any other way to just ignore one's own contributions.
Maybe someone more computer savvy can think of something. |
