| Posted: | | | | When I first bought DVD Profiler sveral years ago, I was told that an iTouch version was just around the corner. It turns out that Ken thought this was just a fad and would go away, so he kept trudging along with the desktop version and lol the Microsoft mobile version. This is like trying to give mouth to mouth to a dinosaur.
I don't know about anybody else but I'm tired of waiting for an iPhone version from someone who doesn't get it. Someone who missed the fact that the iPod and its evolution to the iPhone 4 has transformed every concept off OS and has been the single most important product in the last twenty years. It has taken Apple from the sidelines to the top, crushing Microsoft and all its hangers on and this opinion is from a 50 year old person who has consistently used and supported PC based software for the past 35 years so don't think I'm a dyed in the wool Apple fan. I watched Micorsoft do to all the dinosaurs of the seventies what Apple is doing today. Apple through this has managed to fend of all attacks from IT giants such as Google, Microsoft, HP, Dell, etc. HP has even come out with an iPad knockoff that works just like your desktop on Microsoft Windows 7. They just don't get it.
Even if an iPhone version does come out, will it fit or will it be some concept from the old systems with work workarounds to make it fit? Will it be a fresh and dynamic approach using all the possible advantages that this platform has to offer or will it just try try to mimic what already there.
There have been some great ideas thrown around these posts that would not just be great features but part of the foundation of what could be a great app, using all the hardware the iPhone provides, including portability. I don't know about you but I often am using my iPhone while watching TV or a movie to enhance the experience. Is this what we are looking forward to or not. I could even see the portable app eclipsing the desktop version. As of now, I can't think of a single reason why I would need a desktop version if the iPhone app was a fully functioning version. This application screams portability with all its advantages.
I wish Ken all the best of luck but I'm tired of waiting. Keep up the support for the old worn out platforms and ignore the new at your peril. |

| Posted: | | | | I'm sorry, I guess I missed all the posts that announced that the iPhone DVD Profiler was out or maybe I didn't.
You know what's really amazing is how the people who post on these forums and think only their posts are legitimate no matter how lame, uninteresting and insignificant they might be can read out of a post only what they want to hear and not have a clue of anything else going on around them.
Just checked the home page again iPhone version still not out.
If you had read and understood my email you would have caught its meaning. That is, even if this version makes it into the market place, I doubt that it will have been worth the wait.
My rant, as you call it, is testament to the unbelievable amount of time it has taken to get an iPhone version all the while time being spent on upgrades to a dying platform that has the smallest segment of mobile use on the planet. It appeared to me completely self serving and out of touch with reality. If they at least were working on an Android version I might have understood.
Next time, I will try to keep my post to the idiotic one liners your accustom to as to not upset the dream world you perpetuate.
Please feel free to parse out all the words in this post that may interrupt your fantasy.
Oh! just checked again still no Profiler on iTunes. |

| Posted: | | | | Again, if you'd read the reply to your initial post you'd see that it said it's due out this week, not out at the moment. As to the general meaning of your post, that even when it makes it to the marketplace it won't have been worth the wait, I think we need to wait and see what functions it provides. If you had read the other threads in this part of the forums you'd have seen some posts from Ken suggesting that it's pretty much going to be fully functional. If that's true then personally it'll have been well worth the wait. |

Ken has said that it is a complete replacement for the desktop version and that the desktop is no longer required for general use. | | | Paul |

Absolutely, but until we get our hands on it we can't be absolutely sure. The information from Ken has been sparse to say the least! from the similar iPhone apps that I've tried I'm expecting iPhone DVD Profiler to kick their sorry arses. It's certainly going to be much more than just an app to view your collection and to be honest, with some decent sorting tools I'd be happy with just that, so to get a fully functioning DVD Profiler will be amazing. |

I have to admit that I'm mostly here to keep myself informed and to enjoy the strange emotional tension of some apple disciples. It's interesting to study their behaviour out here in the wild, where survival seems to depend on the feeding of more shiny white products and some apps. |

You missed no such post as none have been made and nobody has claimed otherwise. Quote: My rant, as you call it, is testament to the unbelievable amount of time it has taken to get an iPhone version Based on Ken's statements, this isn't a simple app. It is a fully functional version of the program that will run without the desktop program. Now, I am not a programmer so I don't know how much time this should have taken, maybe you are and you do Quote: If they at least were working on an Android version I might have understood. First, it is a he, not a they. Invelos is one programmer. Second, you must have missed this post...I guess that means you now understand?
